Pakistan ~ consumes 372,800 barrels per day

Lets compare us with some similar size potential countries

Egypt ~ Consumes only 80,000 Barrels per day:o::o::o::o:
New Zealand ~ consumes only 101,200 Barrels per day
Morocco ~ consumes 148,500 Barrel per day
Bangladesh ~ consumes only 25,320 Barrel per day :o::o::o::o:
Denmark ~ 99,000 Barrel per day
Ukraine - 33,020 Barrel per day

. . . . . .
Your mistaking consumption with imports. Norway for instance, according to the link you posted, imports around 50,000 barrels per day. It consumes roughly 270,000 per day, using oil produced at home.

Bangladesh actually consumes about 140,000 barrels per day and Pakistan roughly 550,000.

.
These stats firstly don't look at population. Also they fail to consider some countries have their own oil.

Look at these stats for oil consumption per day, they tell a very different story.

You could argue Pakistan is not as efficient with oil consumption as other countries (see Bangladesh who have a population about 70% of ours).

It's also remarkable how well Denmark has done to reduce dependency on oil. Kudos to them.

But I wonder what do you mean by similar size potential countries?
"I think" by fuel consumption per capita we are pretty much average.

.
Egypt is similar build as Pakistan , big metro cities , big urban areas , lot of congestion cars
Bangladesh is very similarly densely populated

It just feels weird , almost like we should be only importing like 60,000 barrels a day if we just were smart

  • More Nuclear Electricity
  • More Electricity based transit systems (Bus / Trains)
  • More implementation of Solar plants

You do know NZ has nearly 40 times smaller population then Pakistan? It's just half of Lahore city so how can you even compare?

.
Well 60% of Pakistan's population is in villages
And their they don't drive cars

In villages , people use cows, donkeys and most other times they walk. They use cow dung to make fuel for cooking

So that means 40% of Urban population is consuming Fuel/Oil are alarming massive rate instead of taking buses and trains. Mostly it is just 12 big cities of Pakistan

We should generate electricity from Nuclear Tech , so power plants are not using imported oil to generate electricity

  • The fuel imprint can be reduced by Import of cheap electricity from Iran
  • Also we can generate electricity from Nuclear power plants

Irrelevant comparison as suggested by others already.

In Bangladesh most of the cars and public transports use gas instead of oil.

.
Not irrelevant the price difference between gas vs Oil is huge

1 Barrel of oil sells for 100 dollar
Gas is like 4-6 dollar

.
Well 45%-60% of Pakistan's population is in villages

The villages part would have been true 10-15 years ago but not today. Everything has been changed to mechanical. Chingchi is the most common and most popular vehicle of transportation in semi-urban and rural areas
