Is ostrich meat Islamabad's latest food trend?

Come here will give you several ostriches for free.

0 maintenance !. they just live together with the rest of the animals around the farm; no hassles. they are all around us in the wild here.

The meat is very stringy though. We process both the meat, and feathers. but the biggest value is in the eggs for reselling.

U guys sell the feathers to whom? who buys feathers? Any market or just niche places?

Yeah. Don't have to feed them much, but they drink a shit load of water. Also their feathers sell for a good amount.

Will you try Turkey and Duck farms as well? I always missed their meat in Pakistan.

Actually, I am planning to start ostrich farming as a business...Can you guide me little?

Three questions come to my mind..

1. Initially, since I have not much amount to invest, I want to start on smaller scale. How much should I buy in first batch? how many male and female? I have capital of $1500.

2. What is their feed expense on daily basis? How much feed one grown ostrich consume per day? and feed consumption of ostrich chicks per day?

3. 120 square yard land will be enough for two or 3 chicks/grown up ostriches?

Oh no prob, let me try to answer.

Normally we try to get 1:4-5 male to female ratio if you plan to extend the family. Ostriches need a lot of room to roam around; i have a 100 hectare farm with around 60 plus ostriches roaming around - they were there always.

Good news - nothing special is needed for ostriches; a good water drinking area and normal poultry feed; here those who rear ostriches use fish based chicken feed. make sure you have lot of small stones in natural state e.g. we have lot of stones around; they need it for digestion. They are amazing zero maintenance creatures. You will be happy but main thing is you need lot of land and once they are used to you it is pretty much like domesticated animals.
