Is it realistic for Saudi Arabia and Iran to become regional partners?

Much of the discussions on PDF (from what I have seen) resolve around dick measuring contests but there is very little talk about how to solve the problems and challenges at hand and constructive exchanges between the people of the region.

So what would such a rapprochement look like and what could the region expect to see?

Keep it constructive as nobody should be interested in trolling or dick measuring nonsense or sectarian nonsense.

The fundamental issue between Iran and Saudi Arabia:

1- Saudi side issue: Iran interfere in Arab country affairs..Arab countries are our backyard and off limits.

2- Iran side issue: Saudi Arabia has brought foreign forces to our backyard...Persian Gulf is our backyard and is off limits.

Fix the above two issues and you will have good relationship...

Iraq: The talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran may pave the way for the return of relations... and Al-Kazemi attended the fifth round..

"The round of dialogues has begun and is still extended and is taking its way to the events of fundamental and basic approaches, perhaps including the resumption of diplomatic representation between Iran and Saudi Arabia."

Iran confirms holding a “good” round of negotiations with Saudi Arabia and the Iraqi Foreign Minister: The two sides reached a 10-point memorandum of understanding

You know what the issue with the Iranians is? They continously break their promises. Do you know how many times Iran promised to fight against PKK? To this day, the Iranian regime tolerates and collaborates with YPG and PKK elements in Iraq and Syria.

The Iranians are simply not trustworthy and whatever Saudi Arabia is agreeing on, the decision makers in Riyadh should always have a Plan B.

Good luck.

We know that already.. but it is worth it for the region to at least have some negotiations..Iran has already agreed to the Saudi initiative to the truce in Yemen..as a first step.. many more steps will follow..

The Arab- Persian conflict spans centuries and has no linkage to Islam other than using theological differences to amplify this conflict.

Whether a theological regime or under a Shah.. Iran is still the Persian Empire in one form or the other looking to keep its influence

It's not realistic have your neighbor of partner.

It's more realistic bring your knees to a state-empire in another continent when its interests are absolutely different to yours. :enjoy:

Eradicate the sectarian (Shia/Sunni) system from Muslim nations and you'll find all Muslims as one body.

Which arab countries? Iraq is majority shia, I'm sure the arab shia there have a more positive view of Iran than they do of Saudi. Syria with the Assad dilema is complicated, but he is still head of state. In Lebanon things are split but the majority govt seems to have a cooperative relationship with Iran. The Yemeni Zaidis don't seem to like Saudi and their bombings on yemen, The Palestinians view Saudi as Zionist collaborators. So exactly where is "our backyard" coming from? b/c the people seem to not have good opinions of Saudi.

I think the real reason the Saudis are worried is b/c they fear something will develop internally inside Saudi that would overthrow the monarchy like the 79 revolution, Bayt al Saud is terrified that something like the mecca seige repeating in a popular revolt..

Isnt it normal to break promises with your enemies??? I mean US did it with JCPOA, so i dunno what you're bichin about...stop being a NATo pawn and fighting on the opposite side of Iranian interests and Iran will keep "every word" of every "promise" made..lmao

u cant even show us the "promise" iran made to not support PKK secretly...afterall Turkey supports ISIS, so tbh, you sound like a damn hypocrite. Your military just isnt good enough to finish off PKK ,loser.
