It is many, many times pointed out on this Forum that the US and Israel are close allies. Without a doubt, the US provides tremendous support to Israel. But I have been unable to think of any tangible support that Israel gives to the US. I cannot think of any financial, military or political help that the US has received from Israel for the past 60 years. Can anyone out there remind me of tangible help given to the US by Israel? Am I forgetting about Israeli help A, B and C?? Please just don't tell me about the help the US gives to Israel. I want to know the help that Israel gives to the US. Allies should help each other. If Israel never helps the US are they true allies of the US?

Israel helps a lot in R&D but that is financed by USA however there is just too much people to people cooperation between Israel and USA so therefore it is almost necessary for US to support Israel.Jews in USA are very influential as they are very intelligent and they support Israel.I don't think after Cold War Israel provided any real help to USA except attacking their ships, selling jet blueprints to China along with other technology.Spying on US and then asking US to forgive that spy!Israel IMO is a huge liability for USA.

I know that you are 63 years old, however have you ever played a strategy game?

A game where you build and empire, and are able to play diplomacy with other empires on the same map?

Maybe 30 years ago I used to play a strategy board game. I can't remember its name, maybe Stratego. What does that have to do with my question? Can you think of tangible help Israel has given to the US?

You call this help? The US could easily stir up wars in the ME by giving more sophisticated arms to other ME countries, for example, Iran.

I agree to some extent with several of you. The relationship with Israel does not require her to do anything for us, just be there. As fhassan has pointed out. Israel has served as our "Rook" on the chessboard for many years. But to say it is just a relationship of convenience is too simple. The ties between Israel and America are very strong. Not only due to the influence of Jewish-Americans, but also due to the nature of Israeli society. I don't mean to offend anyone here, but it is just more "American", than the societies of most of Israel's neighbors. When they have so many of their citizens, like Mrs.Golda Meir, who were Americans, that makes for strong ties. On top of that, unlike Europe, America is a very religious country. Many of the Christian churches in America have very strong ties to the Israeli people and to the existence of Israel due to their interpretation of the Bible. Most evangelical Christians in America are far stronger supporters of Israel than even Jewish Americans are. Jews support, overwhelmingly, the liberal party in America, the Democrats, and the Evangelicals overwhelmingly support the more "hawkish" and pro-Israel conservative party, the Republicans. That does not mean that Israel and America does not have our problems with each other. We spy on them...they spy on us.

So, Desertfalcon, you can't think of any tangible help either? Just "being there" makes Israel a true ally? The things you mentioned were what the US does to support Israel. Is there any tangible reciprocity?

No. I can't really think of anything. Israel has provided us with vital intelligence information in the past, but we actually have very few "formal" relationships. The American military has no bases or exchanges with the IDF, they do there own thing without us. All we do is supply them with the weapons and provide much economic support. We certainly have used them as a counterweight to the Soviet presence in Nasser's Egypt as an example of their serving our interest, but contrary to popular belief, we actually have very little say over what Israel does. They are as stubborn with us, as with others. Your American though, yes? You should know.

Israel is used by America to hammer it's influence in the Middle East. That's what Israel gives USA.

Without Israel game of Cold War would have been quite different. Just think what possible Political reason could America have to interfere as a mediator and get a foothold in the Middle East, than Israel-Palistine conflict?
.
Now don't tell us stories about the Jews' massacre and all that. There is no bigger Double-Face than America when it comes to Geo-Politics. It's an open knowledge as what Israel do for the US.
.
So please take this Innocent American Face somewhere else. South Asia is your new playground, haan?

It's an open knowledge as what Israel do for the US.

So, Joshi, if it's such "open knowledge", why don't you give me a few examples of tangible help that Israel has given the US, not just your conspiracy theory BS.....
