Is Indian economy really better than Pakistan?

Why do my fellow Indians get dragged into nonsensical threads like this? I for one would never want to be compared with Pakistan on any parameter...only because there is simply no comparison.

Kahan raja bhoj ,kahan nangu teli....that's best way to compare India's economy with Pakistan economy which still survives on foreign aid n loan.

It's not even about aid and loan. It's about what you do with that aid and loan.

Pakistan is only using new loan to pay interest on old loan. There's little investment.

Pakistan population 199m vs 1334m. Difference of 6.7x. But maybe difference will be reduced to 6.5x after census.

6.7x313=2090 while India GDP is 2400b. Not much of a difference but Pakistan needs to grow at 7% to keep up.

Quality of land is also important. Saudi Arabia is 2/3 of India in size. but 60 % of India is arable.
India has more arable land than China and Russia... only marginally lower than USA.

Only 26% of Pakistan is arable. God has gifted India with larger and more fertile land than Pakistan.

Indian land is 4 times of Pakistan but ... Indian Arable land is 8 times more than Pakistan. So India has 8 times population.

And yet we have abject hunger and malnutrition in our country.
Yes we are blessed, but we are also serial squanderers and until we realize our potential and maximize its usage we will always be an underachieving country with much left to be desired!

China manages to produce 40% more agricultural output, with less arable and less fertile land. Chinese are more hardworking.

There are many other important areas on which India needs to improve.

Instead of buying 32 Rafale jets for 10 billion, We should setup a 14nm Semicondutor fab for 10 billion dollars.
India can't create crude oil but Electronics something we can create.

Not just stunted, Pakistan has more malnourished people than India or Bangladesh, infact it is the worst performer in Hunger index in South Asia

The point I'm making is that comparison with Pakistan who we consider inferior competition to begin with should not be an achievement for India, much less celebrated. China with less arable but higher output should be the kind of benchmark to beat.

India has a lot to achieve and a lot of areas to grow. We cannot blanket this issue by saying that we should move the money from defence to industry as both are equally important. What India as a country needs is more accountability and administration. We need a CEO at the helm who takes away the power from beureaucrats and holds them accountable.
We actually produce enough food to feed all of India (even with our relative primitive farming methods), but somehow the lack of infrastructure and all weather wearhouses prevents us from utilizing our food capacity resulting in food literally rotting away. That is a criminal waste!

Again, welcome to the new reality bharatis. CPEC has changed the game right before your eyes and you guys don't even know too much about it. We're talking 5.3% growth for Pakistan right now. 7% is not too for ahead. You guys can take it easy on your wet dreams of Bangladesh overtaking Pakistan. As a matter of fact, Pakistan's economy was re-based nearly 13 years ago while yours was re-based just a few years ago. Once Pakistan's economy is rebased, its GDP per capita while be even higher than your country's.
Sorry pal. You can have wet dreams of CPEC or any other acronym you wish. The only thing changing in your economy is your debt is getting higher but your exports are stagnating with a less than 2% variation each year.

Days of Pakistan having a higher per capita income compared to India are history and are nothing more but wishes.

Bangladesh on the other hand is posting steady growth economically as well as posting consistent growth in exports while having curtailed population growth and social stability unlike Pakistan which is only increasing its debt year on year without adding to its exports while having an increasing population and no social stability. The results will be visible before 2020 itself when Bangladesh surpasses Pakistan.

Like I said, most of this is wet dreaming on your part. You are completely oblivious to changing reality and are stuck in 2013. Times have changed and you haven't. In a single sentence you overlook CPEC and disregard it. That really says it all.

What is the point in comparing India with Pakistan? You try to compete with those who do better than you, not those who you have left behind.

Yes, the times are changing pal.

Your debt levels are updated each year.
Your Foreign Investment Recieved is updated each year (not loans)
Your exports are updated each year.

We do follow them all. We know where you are going.

Lol yes quite right. Significantly higher poverty rate in Bharat, significantly worse access to sanitation, attrocious income equality. And you have left Pakistan behind apparently.
