India is already a IT, Cricket and Spiritual superpower as well as projecting a blue-water navy in the future as for being part of the UN SC this is a realistic goal as the 2nd fastest economy in the world.

India being an IT superpower is a myth,. The Worldwide IT services revenue totaled $763 billion in 2009 and India's IT revenue for 2007 was $47.8 billion(because of recession i doubt any significant growth in 2 years.) ,so obviously our share is very low.

We may be on top as an outsourcing destination.

as the 2nd fastest economy in the world
Its the 2nd fastest major economy.

Yes I know that already but i was speaking in regards to major economies if you wish to get technical then Afganistan or Iraq is the fastest growing economy in the world.

But considering India's IT industry was worth only US $ 150 million in 1991-92 compared to exports of $50 billion in 2008 this shows the rate of growth and the future potential in IT & BPO India will be a superpower in this field.

What is the definition of superpower?

Good Question. Before even talking about whether India is a super power or not you have to define what a super power is.

yes, but if you do not have a successful war against a main power, for example, japan against russia in 1905, american against Nazi german in 1945, china against american in 1950, you will never be considered as a main power.

this is an excellent point.

india does not have the same respect since its not been the victor in history but the parking spot for other strong powers - this might be a harsh logic but thats how it works with the big boys.

According to the list only USA is the true superpower and no country in the world can threaten that title for many decades to come.

Comments welcome from Chinese friends please

India is now where near a Super Power

Any nation with 600 million in poverty and huge infrastucture
issues that india has is a long way away.

How ever,

It is a Strong regional Power, Rising power, BUT has many obstacles possibly too many to become a USA or Even China.

Chinese users here all agree that China will not try to work towards or claim the title "superpower". A title is nothing more than just a title but Indians are very obsessed with such titles as "Superpower", "world power" or "IT power" etc etc.

india on its own has never really ever been going anywhere fast - but with the coaching its getting from the west it can become a de facto power through the umbrella of support it will get

r3

Believe nobody coached India to Get a Forex Reserve of $300 billion between 1999- 2010

And nobody gave them a $1.3 trillion GDP TODAY thru western coaching.

As 4 Umbrella whose providing this ??? India gets no USA handouts like Israel or Pakistan.

Like i said Its a VERY BIG POWER in the region But globally NOT yet.

But we all know the WEST think India is the place to be from Today onwards.

CANT SEE IT MYSELF

So in other words, India is not capable of doing anything by herself , right ? *no offence to India*
