Is India making the same mistake Pakistan made by allying with the US?

Well I think if some how China not become rival of USA then India will be getting in trouble

.
But India is exactly that a third world country just looking to play its part in the larger game of super powers. Pakistan is no different either. We would had been much better if not for becoming a US lackey. I for one envy Nehru's policy of non alignment on which Indian remained until now. Rest if you believe US is merely opening up because of India's going clout than you cannot be more naive. John Maccain statement should be read in this regard.

If you want my honest opinion on it, I have been following these developments from a long while now.

It was 10 years back when the the US decided to delineate Pakistan from India and clubbed Pakistan with Afghanistan. This was carried forward by the Obama administration which termed the Af Pak policy and a separate under secretary was designated with an acting ambassador to take up the matters of Afghanistan and Pakistan as and whole.

The centcom also was an organisation that oversees Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The realisation that India needs to be approached separately from Pakistan was undertaken more than 10 years ago, when the US started engaging deeply with India. There were numerous joint engagements at all levels every year and it has only increased year on year.

On diplomatic levels the US and India termed it as strategic partners and on the military and defense front they drafted an agreement called the DTTI. .This agreement took more than 10 years to mature and is now one of the most liberal and the most comprehensive one that US has ever entered into. Almost no US technology is in the restricted framework when it comes to India.

China is an open threat and an adversary to India and India has all the rights to take corrective actions on its behalf.

The US India engagement is a well planned and a well thought out initiative that has taken more than a decade to mature is no way in comparison to what Pakistan had for decades with the US.

Comparing India to Pakistan is the first folly that most pakistanis engage in.

The writer of the op is a commie that supports China...There a few of such kind lurking around in India.

And yet what is the trade volume between your two countries?

Point being there are no permanent friends or allies in todays world. Something we realised the hard way. If India thinks US as a friend and China as an enemy as your post suggests, than you my friend are simply repeating the same mistake we did.

Isnt India opening up its bases to host US military? Thats just one concession i am talking about and so did the writer. Pakistan made the same mistake when we allowed U2 flights from Peshawar to spy over Russia.

My point is simply US is not a country that is eyeing India rise for its economic benefits, there are strategic implications. What do you think will China reaction be once US is there in India? Remember you have to live with China on your border as did we with Russia in the region. US is far off and safe. It is the region that suffers due to power plays being played by the US and followed on by China in response.

The problem starts when countries think that America is supposed to be some sort of "divine presence" or a "daddy". Countries don't have friends. They just have mutual interests. That they "use each other" is not evil, just reality. Pakistan used the US over the years just as we used them. The same is true of their relations with China or India's future relationship with America. People just need to grow up and accept that that is the way the real world operates.

Whenever some Pakistanis and Indians taunt us that Pakistan is enslaved by US, we are sold out etc etc we are just getting money and such BS I always reply that US-Pak relations are based on interests and both the countries got benefits from this partnership.

NO OFFENCE PEOPLE :pakistan:

USA treates Pakistan like any third world poor country. We will give grant aid ,,,,,,BUT DO wat we say....

Pakistan MISTAKE they became too dependant on USA hand outs....

INDIA is a regional power and aspiring global power..

India does not rely on small hand outs of grant aid like Pakistan did and is still looking for support.

MONEY TALKS , GDP TALKS , FOREX RESERVES TALK AND TRADE TALKS.

India whislt no china or Japan IS still far bigger FAR MORE IMPORTANT global power than pakistan could be .

Russia is no longer a major power their GDP is smaller than india,s AND their weapons are losing indian military market to Israel USA and france

SO ITS A GOOD MOVE BY MODI and WISE MOVE BY USA

Trade with china is 65 billion heavily favoring the chinese, While trade with the US is 120 billion favoring India..which is more beneficial?

While the chinese manufacturing base is useful to India to provide cheap mobile devices and other electronics to improve a vast population of India....The vast deficit needs to be corrected by trade restrictions and anti dumping laws..which will be in effect soon, trade with western countries is definitely in favor and will always be preferred to to the cheap imports from China.

The US has tens of bases in Asia..and it actually doesn't require Indian bases.

China is trouble for most of its neighbors, the whole of south east is being troubled by the misadventures the Chinese are involved in, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan...All are frustrated with the Chinese and want strong countries to stand up with them against the hegemony of the Chinese.

The pakistanis are being foolish by being buddies with the Chinese when isolation is the only thing Pakistan will gain out of being Chinese lackies.

I beg to differ, in my humble opinion US and India relationship is more like "Husband and Wife" so sweet......and....

.
There is a a lot of jealousy and envy over usa and india nexus.

There was virtual crying in Pakistan recently when barrack Obama flew do new delhi with his wife for 5 days. Pakistani begged HIM to stop for 5 hours in Pakistan BUT no luck..

Then the F16 FIASCO followed modi red carpet in WASHINGTON ...
