Because majority of the people in current day Sri Lanka originated from India.

Its documented that earlier people from Orissa and Bengal migrated to Srilanka by boat. And their genetics still largely match Bengali people.

Answer is easy: Urdu is way closer to Persian. Turkish is a completely different language stock.

Only word 'Urdu' is a turkish word ,otherwise urdu n turkish are two very distinct langs.

Urdu means lashkar.

Urdu e muall'a means language of elite

Persian is Indo Aryan while Turkish is Turkic. And Hindi-Urdu is Indo Aryan so yeah.

see for persians and arabs there language is better ,for pakistanis ours is better.
There are many many similarities in urdu and persian and arabic ,yet all the three language speakers unless fluent in each others tongue cannot understand what the other speaker is saying. So its like strange similarities are great , root words are taken from arabic yet each language stands apart. But dont think that the uniquness of any of them is lost. NO NO. Urdu is one of the most rich, cultured languages of the world.

Bahi one of my aunts used to force me to watch when ivisited her place lolzzzotherwise no and ab tau bilkul nahi. Our pakistani dramas have become somewhat indianized thats y istopped watching them too.

But the conversation of Dari is yet richer and more cultured than Urdu. How our elders made a great mistake by not adopting Dari as the national language!

Interesting, maybe it is the common root for the Satem IE languages?

Balto-Slavic and Indo-Iranian are both Satem btw.

Old Balto-Slavic people were essentially more related to Indo-Iranian branch of the family , even religion shows affinity to Indian religion(s) , yes you have God of Thunder , Perun which is similar to Greek Zeus or Germanic Odin but trinity God concepts , policephalic deities , symbolism show close affinity to India.

The Balto-Slavic and Indo-Iranian seemed to have split fairly recent, only about 5000 years ago.

The Germanic on the other hand has many loanwords from Slavic but also from Celtic, because the Germanic people are essentially the mixture between the Celtic/Slavic/Native Northern Europeans, that's why its language also has multiple roots.

Although the Indo-Iranian people have also diversified their gene pool later, but the root of their language still remains quite monotonous, that's why many Slavic speakers can still easily understand both Sanskrit and Avestan.

But Hindi and Urdu speakers can understand each other pretty easily? Why? Vocabulary and script doesn't make a language, the basic grammar and syntax does.

Urdu has more loan words from Persian as compared to Hindi, whereas there are more Sanskrit words in Hindi than Urdu and that's the only difference between the two.
