Ah,so you cannot comprehend the facts as usual,as I said we have tracking capabilities for missions like Chandrayaan,but Mars mission would require far more extensive infra to track it, ISRO doesnt have the funds.

what as usual? you can blame it on anything but the fact is you need a much sophisticated and well positioned system for tracking aircraft in a mission for Mars. if you have engaged with nasa you have engaged with nasa as simple as that. You are using their service and as such you cannot handle the whole mission on your own PERIOD

After suffering from several technical issues including failure of the star sensors and poor thermal shielding, Chandrayaan stopped sending radio signals at 1:30 AM IST on 29 August 2009 shortly after which, the ISRO officially declared the mission over. Chandrayaan operated for 312 days as opposed to the intended two years but the mission achieved 95 percent of its planned objectives.[2][16][17][18] Among its many achievements was the discovery of the widespread presence of water molecules in lunar soil.[19]

As usual , you cannot comprehend the facts,Indian Deep Space Network is enough to track the orbiterduring part of the period,rest would be tracked by NASA,So our Deep space network is sophisticated enough,but it is not an extensive one

@shuttler concern are legitimate. He was asking that if US choose not to help track the orbiter on its path to Mars, would India be able to accomplish this mission? The answer from you seem to be "no" if US refuse help track the mars orbiter.

There are several others with such tracking capabilities-like EU and Russia,If we were denied that service by them too,we would have to spend a lot more,but we could have done that-We already have such network at Banglore,India.

nope..then we'll take help of Russia...

forgetting Fobes Grunt type missions,are we???

and its hard for you guys to comprehend,but Space research is based on co-op..every country takes help from others.some mentions it publicly,while others never even mentioned it..

eg..

all the interplanatory missions of CNSA except Chnag'e-2 used other country's deep space network(most probably Russian)..but you'll not find any reference of that..so,lets end the discussion here..

Exactly..I think its to technology but the global position of India which makes tough to track whole path of this kind of mission..I think making few radars at south/north america will be sufficient to track non-visible paths for now..see,China has similar plan too..

and regardless of your engagement is with NASA or Russia or Europe, what does not belong to you does not belong to you. You are still missing an extensive and sophisticated tracking ability to perform the mission in deep space.

Why you have to claim credits which you don't deserve to have!

NASA is helping you with their installations in usa spain and australia

Someone needs to stop this Chandrayaam 1 discovered the water on the moon nonsense. Water on the moon was discovered by Moon Mineralogy Mapper, and it was built by NASA and managed by NASA. So if a taxi driver drove a scientist to someplace and the scientist discovered something, does the credits of this discovery go to the taxi driver? And in this case Chandrayaam 1 is nothing but a taxi.
