Do you know that nginx which powers 40% of the web was developed by a russian guy. There is a thing called open source.

Open source does not mean that the source is NOT copyrighted. It means the software is licensed under an open license most GPL and BSD 3-clause license. Almost all of them require you to attribute the use of source code. If you didn't write some software, you cann't call it your own. Open or not.
