Is China running out of food? Xi Jinping’s ‘Clean Plates Campaign’ is causing rare anxiety

Making a mountain out of a molehill.
Americans should check their own fasting emptying shelves at their supermarkets instead of worrying about its competitor across the Pacific Ocean.

As for some of the Indians in here, I am simply flabbergasted at their ignorance.

How would chinese army will fight without food?

HAHAHAHA, in reality, its Indian army complaining about the lack of food. We have seen plenty of videos of Indian army personal complaining about food. You Bollywood pests, come out of your hallucinations fast.

China mostly import soy as fodder for live stock as well as some meat product. Her grain production is enough for domestic consumption.

Her food product is enough for daily calories need. But if US is going to cut off soy, then China would need to consume less pork. It merely affect her food luxuries.

.
Are they running out of propaganda material?

Where India is flooded with food, fruits , vegetables and milk

Yet some people in India have faced hunger, some died of it and one man had to eat a dog that had been killed on a highway.

Sonu Sood and Chef Vikas Khanna had to arrange food for many hungry people, something that the government failed to do.

India has plenty of water. But the government has no power to implement large scale irrigation. India has world more fertile soil but food productivity is below average.

China is above average.

Sadly, macro-level thinking and strategic thinking has not been part of Indian governments. A smaller country like Libya implemented the world's largest irrigation system ( Great Man Made River ) whereas Indian governments chose to spend money on weapons import ( becoming the world's second-biggest importer of armaments ).

Secondly, to prevent flooding and drought-destruction of agricultural areas Indian governments have not mass-adopted Vertical Farming which if done in urban areas can lead to self-sufficiency of most of food items in urban areas.

The reason why it cant be done is India is never a unitary state in history. A lot of power is in the hands of states.

China will never and ever run out of food. They can eat anything and everything.

About the underlined, since 1947 ( the Independence ) there is a 'Indian identity' among the common people which dare I say is a compromise culture held up by Hindu and Muslim cultures. This stands even when the are inter-state quarrels like water sharing and language usage.

The Indian military, para-military and police force are drawn up from various regions and religions locally.

But what is missing among the common people is the will to improve the country through political experiment. I will give an example that I mention a lot on the forum. Just between 1995 and 2015 more than 300,000 Indian farmers committed suicide primarily because of socio-economic reasons. In most other country the youth, especially the middle class, would have said that this was a ridiculous atrocity and risen up in revolt against the system. But in India life goes on especially for the middle class. College graduations, weddings, religious ceremonies, birth of their children, schooling and the cycle goes on. And whenever there have been progressives who have spoken up against the system, four have been killed, some jailed and others harassed and marginalized by saying that their are "anti-national".

India needs a revolution.

Throughout Indian history no attempts has been made to wall up Kyber pass, a relatively easy project. 2000 years ago, China has organized her society to build 2000km of great war.

Culture is a big difference that enable China's feat.
