What's new

Is China an industrialized country now?

So now a chemistry student from a horrible mumbaiii uni questions other people about coding?
lol

First try to understand the difference between chemical and chemistry.

Second, answer the questions. Do you even know anything about coding, artificial intelligence, quantum computing?

Who told you US leads in quantum science? An article about Australian professor just trade US for shanghai becos he says China leads for quantum computer and he is continuing his research in China.

Yeah, I read that article, and I will start a thread on quantum science soon.

If you actually read carefully, he said the top groups in China are competitive.

Also, in terms of the field, there are some distinct areas namely quantum computing, quantum cryptography, quantum sensors, which should all be treated separately.

China is most competitive in quantum cryptography.

China is still a kid in terms of quantum computing however.

Also, your arrogance and conceit would soon destroy you.

IIT Bombay is in the same place Tsinghua was 15-20 years back. Similar to Tsinghua, it is the hub of country's brightest, but like Tsinghua back in the days, due to shortage of funds it is not very competitive I'm research.

i bet those horrible uni in Mumbai will tell chem students about the significance of agriculture.

Let me tell you this. My uni is so horrible, that you won't have been able to even pass the entrance test of it.

People as ignorant as you would have no future.

I as an aspiring computer scientist would make sure that idiots like you are forever made useless in the world.

. . . . .
chemical engineering but you sound like you are expert in computer science, AI , economics ?

I am not an expert yet. I hope in the next 5-6 years I can confidently say that I am am expert.

But the problem here is that people who know even less than me talk as if they know everything.

China is way past the Industrialized country now. It would be more interesting to know the areas where China is lagging behind
there are many sectors that we are still lagging behind the strongest industrialized countries, e.g. Germany, Japan, or USA. Some areas are about conventional machinery sector, e.g. precise machining, specialized steel for extreme conditions, etc. Some are about new technologies, e.g. semiconductor, robotics, autonomous driving, machine learning, etc.

We are very clear of the limitations of our manufacturing industry. On the one side, we've managed to significantly narrow the manufacturing industry capability gap against the most developed countries, in the past 20 to 30 years; on the other side, the gap is still there. I think we will need another 20 to 30 years to eliminate the gap.

What's important to us is, within almost all emerging/disruptive technology areas, we've seen the emergence of some Chinese scientists or startups. Many of them are still young, or immature. But we are there, inside the circle!

Smart Indians like you may very well end up working in a foreign country and never come back home. You are quite different from most of your countrymen. :enjoy:
He should migrate to USA, that's where the sh!t is happening. Hopefully he won't be assassinated by some lunatic over there, couple of Indians were sent to heaven recently :cheesy:

US is actually safer for people like him. If he voices his opinion in India like he does on PDF, he may end up with an "anti national" badge, and be hacked to silence. :D

Don't forget Trump's slogan: America first, jobs go to Americans. :enjoy:

Hi buddies, let's stay on topic, debate on the agenda, stay away from personal matters. Thanks.

On the one side, we've managed to significantly narrow the manufacturing industry capability gap against the most developed countries, in the past 20 to 30 years; on the other side, the gap is still there. I think we will need another 20 to 30 years to fulfill the gap.

What's important to us is, within almost all emerging/disruptive technology areas, we've seen the emerge of some Chinese scientists or startups. Many of them are still young, or immature. But we are there, inside the circle!
Agree. Another angle to find out what's lagging is trade deficit, given China is the world's largest and most complete industrial base, trade data reflects relative competitiveness. Top deficits are with Taiwan, South Korea, Germany and Japan. How? Let's look at their competitive edges, which correspond to what China is lagging.
Taiwan: Chipsets/semiconductors (which is the single largest import item of China, surpassing crude oil); Optics.
South Korea: Chipsets/semiconductors; Advanced chemicals; Heavy machinery; Special steel.
Japan: Optics; Special steel; Precision mechanical components (e.g. compressors); CNC machine tools; Robotics & automation; Heavy machinery;
Germany: CNC machine tools; Precision mechanical components; Robotics & automation; Luxury automobiles.
Again, except for consumer goods like luxury automobiles, I wish "Made in China 2025" can close the gap on all industrial items (capital goods, core components, advanced steel/materials).

This thread has nothing to do with an agrarian country.

@AndrewJin , my young brother, that is exactly my point... but those hateful indiaanz would claim otherwise.

I am more interested in innovations coming out of China than these theoretic discussions about benchmark comparisons.

FinTech is the one space I am watching carefully....mainland and Hong Kong. Exciting things are happening!

You have yourself a great day!
