I have appreciated American accomplishments on many counts here on PDF and outside but I cannot help but shake my head in disagreement with this delusion you guys continue to harbor.

Wake the hell up and learn from negative indicators and criticism of other people.

In the history of mankind, there’s never been a continental sized superpower with the resources and influence the United States possesses.

The US fundamentally dominates. It’s so ingrained in world society you don’t even realize it.

USA certainly transformed much of the world on so many levels in the 20th century with its numerous meaningful inventions and exports to other countries - credit where due.

However, you are being overconfident and narrow in your focus - you are overlooking a pressing issue of erosion of American social system and social values by extension (posts 7 and 10 expand on this theme). American internal political polarization has reached a whole new level (apparent in American Press/Media since 2001; POTUS Donald Trump's attitude is not helping either) - your country does not have a coherent national narrative in relation to many developments since 2001 (not even in relation to 9/11 event - was this an inside job or not? Like seriously?). This problem coupled with significant decline in American sense of MORALITY as well as a dismal response to the COVID-19 outbreak... These issues have shown much of the world that your society is no longer a ROLE MODEL for others to emulate in the social dimension.

SOFT POWER is contingent upon coherence in national narrative and MORALITY, mind you.

Does it surprise you that China is drawing more approval and support from much of the world lately? This is apparent even in UN where several resolutions against China failed to pass due massive disapproval.

China have a coherent national narrative which is difficult to breach/counter/critic, and Chinese centralization enable effective response to emergency situations which is also apparent in its response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

If you fail to understand and learn from your negative indicators as well as constructive criticism coming your way, much of the world will loose faith in American leadership at some point, and more and more people will come to declare USA a failed state on many counts. And when this happen, people look for alternatives. Do not expect distant observers to cover your mess for indefinite period.

It’s not the US President or Congress where the fundamental power of the US resides. It’s the American people. It’s the free thinking innovative spirits of this country. Presidents come and go. COVID will come and go. But its the American people that will endure.

Look at the protests around the world recently for George Floyd. What your seeing is essentially a celebration of black American culture which ultimately flows into US soft power. Its the American people that will ultimately prevail, because we are the melting pot of the world.


And no one wants to live under the thumb of the Chinese Communist Party. Their soft power is next to none.

No, whats ingrained in the world is that US cant be topped, and you obviously believe that also...but thats so American - to have serious flaws but prefer to point at your superiority or others inferiority...thats exactly how China caught up.....now you're an angry nation...because US has no clear lead anymore...not 1 thing US has a clear lead anymore..

How is US decline when they manage to send man to moon and win the space race? The vietnam is making plenty of money for US defense corps and industries are booming. The US dollar dominate is also forming during that period with US dollar link to oil. 1960 - 1980 is one of the golden period of US, the first ever decline of US is only happening now.

USA is in another category. Almost all countries in the world look to helping thier people. USA looks to helping companies only. Laws are catered to help business while punishing the people. Basic human necessities are ignored. People are given "Freedom of speech" which accomplishes nothing.

If you look at USA through society lens, then Yes USA has failed tremendously . If you look at USA through companies lens, then USA is perfectly fine. How people defend USA depends on which Lens they view it through.

Home-grown Americans are idiots. Lets not pretend the culture is helping you. The stability and money to attract actually innovative people is the advantage, but American racism is chasing some of these people away.

If you really finished high school you should know the US resembles the Mongolian Empire in lots of ways. Both dominated military technology of their time; both were very expansionary(although one on the land the other in the seas); Both declines really fast thus become short-lived.
