Amir Khajefard: The Simorgh aircraft is getting the certificate

Note the landing gear retracted into the fuselage, while in the first flight the landing gear remained extended.
But what he says about the engine in the article is also interesting,
including the list of modifications to the aircraft from which it was derived

It must be noted that Illyushin 112 is using same engine (Tv7-117?). Being a bi-turboprop cargo with rear ramp (same class than Simorgh) russian cargo plane suffered a terrible accident, and after months of investigations the program was stalled.
So, if Simorgh project goes smooth 🤞 it would be something new in history, when HESA surpassed Illyushin in designing and operating a bi-turboprop medium cargo aircraft.

and.. recalling the announcements of Iran-Russia collaboration in the aeronautical field, who knows if this Iranian success with the Simorgh and the work done on the engine could lead Moscow to collaborate in the production of the Simorgh and its turbofan and possibly to a co-production, this is because the AN-140, from which the Simorgh derives, until 2015 was also made by the Aviakor aeronautical plant located in Samara, Russia, then in mid-2015 Aviakor suspended the assembly of the An-140 aircraft due to the fact that factories located in Ukraine had stopped supplying components.

That could be great. Russia could cancel Il-112 in favor of Simorgh aircraft and Russia would free budget for other projects that could buy IRIAF like more and newer A-100 AEW/AWACS. That aircraft has been essential for Ukr-Rus war and would boost IAD of Iran.
 
They are transforming the IL-112 into IL-212 by replacing the turboprops with PD-8 turbofans, so there will also be a redesign of the aircraft with a probable increase in load capacity, this situation could free up space for a possible turboprop aircraft of the class of Simorgh.
Of course, the Russians might be interested in how Iranian engineers upgraded and solved problems with the TV3-117VMA-SBM1 engine
 
Mapna claims it built a military/civilian turbofan from scratch and is looking for a foreign collaborator for mass production. This aircraft and many others would greatly benefit from such a collaboration.

The article mentioned there is requirement for 150 of this aircraft in Iran alone..150 planes means 300 engines which is a good number to any manufacturer to tool up. :undecided:

if they build airliner version of it then the number will be even more
and i guess for 150 aircraft you need more than 300 engine , you must consider some spare

Another test bed project that 10 years from now they will still be dragging out to show. Like Kowsar, National Helicopter project (who remembers that?), and Yasin.
 
9th Dey SAM for 3rd Khordad ADS should have AAM derivative since looks considerably smaller than SAM's used by Soviet/Russian Buk ADS.

It can come from the money they want spend for importing foreign aircraft

Quality and reliability of Boeing, Airbus, ATR is leagues above anything Iran can produce for next 25 years.

This airplane will go no where, precisely because no one in establishment will give contracts or funding for it.

Aviation is one area Iran doesn’t like taking risks on.
