Worst case scenario is its unveiling of helicopter or transport plane.

Kowsar with refined improved wing and divertless supersonic inlet.

Kowsar with delta wing similar to one F-16XL prototype had.

Kowsar with F-16XL like delta wing and divertless supersonic inlet.

Qaher-313 if F137 turbofan engine survived shot down of MQ-4 Triton.
*If it did and reverse engineering of such engine was successful.

5 scenarios of potential outcome.

It is unfortunate that these things consume resources.
A huge underground base can be neutralized at once, along with the many assets inside it, if the entrances and exits are destroyed.
This photo shows a NATO style air base bunkers.
This arrangement of many small bunkers makes it difficult for the enemy to destroy all of them with bunker busters, while the allies can quickly launch from the small bunkers, which is extremely rational.
On top of that, the enemy is forced to attack in vain against numerous bunkers that may or may not be empty,

Based on these images, and the announcement of an unveiling tomorrow. Seems like many here believe a F-16XL type airframe will be unveiled(?)

Airframe wings looks like

Unless I mis-interpreted from other users here....I am not really well versed in airforce matters.

Honestly … it looks in no way like the F-16XL, At best it has a slightly enlarged wing, but otherwise it has the same old loooooong F-5F-based fuselage with tiny wings.

Really, always this wishful thinking as if a 5th generation super-type would be doable for Iran.

Thing is designing and producing new airframe should be the least of an obstacle when designing an aircraft.

While J85-GE-21 is severe limitation on Iranian development of fighter jets, so is the airframe of F-5 Tiger II.

F-16XL type wing and divertless supersonic inlets would considerably improve overall performance.

Kowsar with those features could then carry two land attack cruise missiles that have greater than 1000 kilometer range.

Really? … please stay realistic!

"Eagle 44" is a demonstration of a "rational" thinking by IRIAF:

1- you spend your $$ and build secure under the mountain air base (s) out of reach of enemy

2- Populate the base with your "next generation" air assets (SU35,Kowsar-II ,ALCM.Kaman, etc )

3- Be alive to fight another day in the case of surprise first wave attack.

Thumbs up to IRIAF for thinking outside of the box.:azn::azn:

But why reveal this in such a public manner?! they should have kept it secret, at least not publicly demonstrate it like this.

One more thing, how do they deal with all the engine exhaust fumes and blast? I can't see any vents to exhaust the gas externally, presumably because they would be potential targets for bombs and missiles and weak points in the structure.

Although these tunnels were shown before:
I hope that there are other underground tunnels being built (or already completed) that can accommodate larger aircraft like the Su35 since this one doesn’t seem big enough.

It would not have made any practical difference to keep it “secret”.

Enemy ISR, especially Spy satellites have already got information on the tunnels long before Iran decided to publicly disclose them.
