I think Iran can make new fighter?????

I think our main problem is the engine bro, for example we had a fighter jet program before but it cancelled cause of russian refusal to give us engines. but don't worry soon we will make the engine and hopefully a decent fighter jet.

Well recently F16 was donated to Iranians who knows they might reverse engineer the jet engine

There is no reason why China would not/cannot provide Iran with Aircraft Engines when US-Russia can provide equipment to rough elements in certain regimes. There are alot of military grade equipment that moves in and out across the globe.

I Think IF Iran comes up with a decent aircraft design [unlike F-5], It can be powered by Chinese WP-14C Kunlun-3 an improved Engine over WP-14 Kunlun which has 75kN with afterburn [for the time being] OR a much better option of Chinese WS-12B Taishan [92kN-100kN] but is heavier ofcourse IF Iran would be looking to design-develop a capable F-18/Mig-29 Class Aircraft I don't see problem with Taishan Engine.

HESAS-80 is a replacement over older generation F-5s and F-7s as an upgrade, I don't see it being capable to replace F-14s and F-4s. Iran will have to come up with a better design and up to date technologies incorporated with alot of improvement particularly specifically in reducing RCS in addition to armament.

We can't hold our air space. Plain and simple. The US (even Israel) is superior in the air. And I'm just honest now. The F-22 is in my opinion the best fighter aircraft since the Messerschmitt Me 262. It's just completely laughable to think that we even have a small chance.

No official specifications...It cannot defend the air space effectively BUT the idea is to train young Iranian Air Force pilots with up to date upgraded technologies that in it self is plus point from point of view of pilots training and know how as these aircraft to certain limits are better than original F-5s-F-7s.

well , we had a plan to use Russian base engine for it , but ....
now Russia even don't give us mig 29 parts , although we have a treaty with them ....

well , I think you indian can understand this matter ... after all Russian really tease you with Su 33 ( or Su 30 ) ... and I think it was one of the reason you prefer France Rafale over Russian fighters

some unconfirmed source said in past year , our defence industrial showed a Turbofan engine to our supreme leader in a military exhibition , but we have no other information About it , like we don't know what is the size of this turbofan engine , or what is the power ( trust ) of this unseen turbofan engine ... so this is safe to assume that we still don't make a proper turbofan engine .... maybe they made it for Sofreh Mahi ( Iranian Drone )

but I should say these unconfirmed source said about our Khalij Fars missile or our new UAVs years before the public show ...

jet engine is a problem for many countries even china get engines from russia.

Iran is making good progress in small engines, apparently they made a turbofan engine. hopefully we will see a decent jet engine in near future.

Well I am surprised that Iran has not mastered the engineering of Tom Cat F-14 Engine this has been with Iranain Engineers for good 24-25 years ..

Another thing is that Iran produced 36 new jets but that was 2-3 years ago just how many of these new serial production units exists its unknown .. they may actually have close to 90 new Jets knowing how quickly Iran mass produces technologies it has mastered

those are advanced J-85 engine , so these engine have low trust and logically those engine have no use for big fighters like Mig 29 , and F-14 .... so those are out of question ....

and we were under sanction in past 30 year and even Russia didn't sell us any useful things ... and don't forget we have to rebuild country after 20th century longest war .... so we even haven't enough money for expensive and complex project like making Turbo fan Jet engine , we even havn't industrial capacity for this ...

it is just 10 years that we begin to improve our industrial and engineering knowledge ...

China has more trade volume with the US than Russia ever did. Thus naturally the US leverage on China is greater. I dount they would help. But who knows.
