IRGC Navy shows ''Zolfaqar'' submersible torpedo boat for the first time

. . . .
I think we need some thing operational now, to help us to act or react in the Gulf of Aden and send some help to Yemen rather than show. we always exhibit new products but use. When does it time of using them?

Wait, is this something the drug cartels use? A semi submerge boat?

Iran displayed its Hoot high-speed rocket-torpedo for the first time during an exhibition by the naval wing of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGN) on 3 October.

The imagery confirmed long-held suspicions that the Hoot is identical to the VA-111 Shkval supercavitating torpedo that was developed by the Soviet Union. It has the same eight jet nozzles at the rear and four stabilisation fins that pop out of the torpedo's body.

Launched from a standard 533 mm torpedo tube, the rocket-powered weapon creates an air pocket around itself, thereby reducing drag and enabling it to reach speeds of up to 200 kt (370 km/h).

Iran revealed the existence of the Hoot in 2006, when it released a low-quality video of one being fired from a floating platform.

Leaked IRGC documents published by the Federation of American Scientists in 2009 showed the Russians had demonstrated the Shkval at the Iranian port of Jask in early 2004. One document dated 3 April 2008 noted that the IRGC had contracted Iran's Aerospace Industrial Organization to design, produce, and test an engine for the Hoot. It remains unclear if any progress has been made since then.

The IRGC also displayed a semi-submersible torpedo boat called the Zolfaqar. Such vessels are not considered to be true submarines because they need to keep a snorkel above the water to feed oxygen to their engines. They are nevertheless still difficult to detect using radar when submerged.

The IRGC is believed to have had semi-submersibles since at least 2002, when The Washington Times reported it had received two Taedong-B and three Taedong-C craft from North Korea.

These semi-submersibles were only glimpsed in Iranian media coverage until the Zolfaqar was displayed during the 3 October event.

The Fars News Agency reported that the Zolfaqar is 17 m long, 3.3 m wide, weighs 22 tonnes, has a top speed of 70 km/h (38 kt), and is armed with the 324 mm torpedoes.

yes it is . 'murican drug cartels can fire 324mm torpedoes with their "semi submerge boats" . have a top speed of 70 km/h , have intel gathering technology and have radars .

quite advanced i'd say .

nothing unexpected though . they are yanki and thats how they roll
