I am not calling for Iraq's balkanization or anything like this. I am mainly speaking of a current and historical phenomenon known as the "Iraqi psych". It is a mysterious world by itself and no one can know what it is exactly. I have interacted with so many nationalities in my life (over 50 nationalities actually). The most difficult one to deal with was certainly the Iraqi. I am not saying that they are not friendly, many are very friendly, but with so much suspicion, ridiculous love for politics, cursing and being quick to take offense, long memory, unbelievable ability to hold grudges, and extremely paradoxical attitudes.

We do actually curse, and we aren't really that polite or well-mannered (especially with those that we don't know). But the level of harshness of words and actions among Iraqis is "horrendous". I know most people will criticize me for this, but even with ISIS, I could see the Iraqi Ba'ath's finger prints in their horrific, genocidal actions. After all ISIS leadership is Iraqi, and big factor behind its rise was due to the American and Shia Iraqi elimination of the Ba'ath's existence from Iraq, so it is very likely that many of the former Ba'athists reshaped themselves under a new genocidal political cult (known as ISIS).

On YouTube, you can find a lot of videos of how Iraqis were tortured and killed in the 1990s by the Baathist authorities. Very similar to ISIS.

The Baathists were brutal.

I feel sad for Iraq. The country's got so much potential, but it's ridden with violence.

Khaleeji culture will never allow for this kind of violence.

The State of Kuwait is part of the Iraqi territory and falls under the jurisdiction of Basra, Iraqi lawmaker Awatef Neema of the Al-Islah party said yesterday.

The lawmakers said she was surprised by the claims of some members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly that the Khawr Abd Allah waterway belongs to Kuwait, describing the remarks as “ridiculous”.

“Maps from the Turkish rule era and which are currently in Britain confirm that Kuwait is entirely part of the Iraqi territory,” she said.

The lawmaker added that Kuwaiti MPs should review the maps which prove that Kuwait was part of the Basra Governorate, but the British cut it out and let the Sabbah family declare it an Emirate like any area where local government is formed on a tribal basis.

“The state of hysteria experienced by some members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly is unwarranted. Instead of launching these statements, they should try to learn about their so called country which uses major states to develop and without which they would not even be on the map.”

Moreover, the lawmaker said her country should not be bound by international resolutions which came as a result of the Baathist regime’s reckless policies.

“It is the duty of the Iraqi government to maintain Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” she said.

Over the past few days, Kuwaiti lawmakers waged a scathing attack on Iraq, calling on the need to discuss what they described as “provocative statements” issued by some Iraqi lawmakers on the Khawr Abd Allah waterway.

Though it is a nice idea, to think of the possible military/economic power if some countries in the region unite, whilst the GCC has the financial power they aren't so fond of ground warfare/using their ground troops, Iraq however doesn't mind doing that.

Unfortunately having pointed that out myself not many people on here want to believe it. They probably think the Fedayen all went back to being farmers or something.

But who are we talking about here, people have aged since these decades have gone by. The fedayeen of the 90's are no youth anymore. Some former republican guard/intelligence officers are in IS many actually but they're not the cannon fodder suicide bombers that we see today, those recruits are for a large part foreigners.

Certainly the average front line guy is not the Fedayeen person from before Saddam's capture (2003). But that was only 14 years ago. It's not like they are all 65 years old.

We were right to topple such a cruel brutal regime afterall i guess. lol

On a serious note, it's true the baathist regime of Saddam was as cruel as its new offspring ISIS when it comes to torturing and killing it's opponents, they even use chemical weapons against their own people. The Iraqi baathist regime reminds me of it's Baathist brethren in Syria(only that Saddam's baathist regime was even worse than Assad's own baathist regime to some extent) .
Afterall ISIS was created by disbanded former baathist security officials.
Granted the U.S and U.K did a mistake by disbanding the regime completely, it was our biggest mistake.

The problem of Iraq is not Saddam, the US, Shia, Sunnis, ISIS, Iran, or KSA. The problem and challenge of Iraq is the Iraqi personality itself, and its inherent refusal to choose peace and order. While highly intelligent and excellent in communication skills, it always looks for aggression, opposition, suspicion, challenge, and proving manhood.

This is a well-known fact among Arabs and is almost indisputable. Historians also consistently agree on the same.
