Ok, so despite what you said, in an age that relationship with US is a determining factor of how prosperous one's economy can be, Iran's economy has grown without any relationship with US. We established that.

Now you jump to another question: Could Iran's economy been better if Iran had continued Shah's type of relation with West and US? Most probably. But what's the point of having a prosperous economy at the mercy of US and become a puppet due to the fear that one day it may cut you off? How well would Israel economy do if it is one day cutoff from that of US?
