Iraqi air force struggles to rebuild as US exit nears, hopes to get F-16 fighters

wright now the Iraqi should be look for helicopters so that they are able to deploy troops quickly to an area. they should also be in the market for attack choppers but attack aircraft like the F-16 right now are not something that they should be in the market for.

Somewhat unrelated but what is the possibility of a covert air strike on Iran nuclear facilities from Iraq.

And cut the 2 decade old wounds open again? While American government considers a pullout, any such strikes would only pull Iraq 5 years back. Militants will get a free reign again and United States will have to build the country from scratch again: with a much lighter money bag than 5-8 years back.

There's no point of ordering a strike into Iran that too from Iraq, a country that has fought a long war with its immediate neighbour.

Yup... tell me, which other country has the financial might to build Iraq again? Saudi Arabia is the only country I can think of which won't happen due to past close shaves and regional rivalries. China is out of question since it is still an emerging economy and is not equipped enough to rebuild a war-torn land from scratch. One or two soft loans are different from rebuilding an entire country's infrastructure.

Russia isn't Soviet Union anymore to add value here. Japan despite its economic might and monetary power, is playing only a passive role in ISAF operations and won't go out of its way to help. India is again an emerging country and has a huge population itself to support, alongside its hands tied in donating aid to Afghanistan. European Union has just slowly started to come out of a terrible financial crises that hit it the worst, with still half the businesses down. Switzerland is a small, neutral country with limited resources and we try to make the best we can out of whatever we do.

Pakistan is itself currently a recipient of international loans and economic assistance from world financial bodies and friendly countries. So there again, no possibilities.

Any other countries you can think of, sir? I'd appreciate your ideas if you can think of any other countries capable of performing or willing to perform such a feat.

As soon as Iraq gets them, Iraqi Shitte pilots are gonna fly these F-16 birds to Iran for the final pilgrimage you guys just wait and watch that happen
