Vladimir Kugin, assistant to the Russian president, said that the weapons export program for the current year is fully implemented.

"We have not yet summarized the results of the year, but preliminary results indicate that the plans we have set for us at the beginning of the year will be implemented," Kugin told reporters on Thursday.

"The volume of Russian exports of arms to Iraq will remain in 2018 at the same pace as in 2017," he said.

The most recent of which is the conclusion of Russian arms deals with Iraq worth $7 billion, including MiG-35 fighter jets, in addition to equipping Iraq with an integrated armored brigade. Iraq also concluded a military deal with Russia worth about one billion dollars, including Pantsir-S1 air-defence and legit/Igla Manpads missile systems

. . . . . . . .
Is Iraq also slipping out of Uncle Trumps fingers? Why aren't they buying US fighters and weapons?
Because the short sighted inbred americans liberated iraq into the iranian and russian arms ... the dumbing down of america is impacting their foreign standing...

Trump! I love this guy... a nail in the yankie imperial coffin!

There is some truth to what you said.

Wrong, Iraq imports most arms from the US, followed by Russia.
This is not political, US remains the country's military ally to some degree, Russia isn't.

Possibly.

But I think the USA invasion or Iraq must have raised Anti-American sentiments in Iraq.
It is simply because the US sold Iraq the very expensive F-16s without AMRAAM, meaning they are limited in their use.. going to Russia solves this problem..and the saved money from the limited and expensive US systems can buy much more from Russia and China with almost the equivalent capabilities if not more with BVR missiles in this case of the Mig-35..

  1. Because Iraq has extensive experience on operating MiG crafts
  2. US equipment comes with many strings attached, Russians dont.
  3. Iraq needs a balanced FP and buying weapons provides direct influence.
