Iraq to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan

How would they know inside out? Care to elaborate?
1. This project starting as a JV between Pakistan, The US and China.

2. The not so secret ties between Israel and China, which famously led to the F22 export ban.

Actually you haven't really thought it through. The F16's you have don't have the AIM120 (Only Sparrow missiles) No AESA. You will still need to defend your airspace. The JF17 Gives you Longer range BVR's AESA cheaper flight hours and a lot more stand off munitions that the good ole USA won't give you. Its a good all rounder. the RAFALE/SU30/SU35 will all come at a higher price and maintenance cost

he don't want BVR , he just like the F16 with tempered weapons and radar systems which can be scrambled at will

Doesnt mean china started sharing tech with Israelis. In fact it was the other way round with China getting information from the Israelis which you pointed out.
JF17 is a test bed for many advance tech from J20. China will be damned if it would share details with Israel that can as easily be shared with the US.

You’d be surprised

It's different. The US has strict technology restrictions because it sees itself as the only advanced country in the world and all other countries have to steal their technology. China sees itself only as one of the providers of advanced technology. It is not efficient for other advanced technology countries to give up their own technology route and choose to imitate China.

Technology is only part of a weapon's performance. China pays more attention to keeping secret the real performance of its main weapons , its technical route is less sensitive. The technology that will lead the world is also kept secret. As with the recent successful Chinese experiment of a space vehicle, the news clearly stated that it was too advanced to provide any pictures. The news didn't even have a mockup of what it looked like.

ISLAMABAD - In a landmark development Pakistan got another international defence order from Iraq for the sale of 12 fighter jets JF-17 Thunder Block III, manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

Top official sources told The Nation that several rounds of negotiations between Pakistan and Iraq on fighter jets continued this year at the highest level but finally completed with the visiting Iraqi defence delegation led by Deputy Commander Iraqi Air Force Major General (Pilot) Muhammad Majeed Mahdi Mahmood and top Pakistani officials. Gen Mehdi is on an official visit to Pakistan.

According to the sources, the defence deal was approved by both the Iraqi and Pakistani governments and a formal agreement is expected to be signed in Islamabad next month. The Iraqi government has approved the amount of 664 million USD for the purchase of 12 fighter aircraft from Pakistan.

Iraqi Defence Minister Lieutenant General Juma Inad Saadoun earlier visited Pakistan in May during which he held meetings with Pakistani leaders and officials and discussed Iraq’s interest to buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan.

Pakistan has earlier organised a major defence exhibition in Baghdad in April 2021 in which JF-17 Thunder thrilled the Iraqi airspace with its extraordinary performance and won the hearts of the government and people of Iraq.

Chairman JCSC Gen Nadeem Raza had also visited Iraq in March 2021 and held meetings with top Iraqi defence officials and discussed defence cooperation between the two countries.

The sources told The Nation the production of JF-17 Thunder Block 3 is in production process at PAC Kamra.

Iraq is the third country which would be purchasing these fighter jets from Pakistan. Earlier Argentina has agreed to buy 12 fighter jets from pakistan. Nigeria had also purchased three fighter jets from Pakistan Airforce last year and these fighter jets were handed over to Nigerian Air Force this year.
Not third but fourth. You are not counting Myanmar.

Makes no sense to buy the JF-17 for Iraq anyway.
Look at Iraq's neighbors, all their air forces are top notch.

What Iraq needs is a mix of air equipment to deal with terrorism, Turkey can fill that gap with drones.

And a small number of squadrons in the class of (Rafale, SU-30, Su-35) with a focus on air-air.

Iraq's F-16's, Su-25's and KA-50 are already filling the need for heavy air-ground strike.

That really is an oversimplification. Iraqi F-16s had no decent BVR and the fleet is virtually grounded due to lack of US support.

What Pakistan is offering is a less sophiisticated and simple jet but with a decent weapons package, sanction proof and plenty of support from PAF/PAC.

That alone at a very reasonable price is probably tempting the Iraqis

.
So wait, was the Argentina deal fake news or not? What's going on?

.
Nothing disclosed by Oem or country officially but budget document like Nigeria disclosed amount allocated so …

Iraq news In directly disclosed but nation quoting official in UN official capacity and deal will be signed in October.

End of story no need for drama and sensation only endian need burn 🔥 oil so spreading rumors due to shock

I think you are high on drug. US already force Israel to stop any military tech collaboration since 2000.

Israel is not going to share any tech nor China will do with Israel anymore.

Its real, they even allocated the funds needed to secure 12 JF-17.

I would agree that the capability offered in the price bracket with the diversity of weapon load is un paralleled. I do agree we should wait for formal confirmation but the news has merit and is a step in the right direction for PAC/CATIC as well as Iraqi AF> The US has been an unreliable partner and its use of its weaponry for political pressure is fast making it difficult for most nations to retain US inventory without towing US political line possibly to its own detriment.
