Iraq armed groups expert Hisham al-Hashemi shot dead in Baghdad

Arab Nationalism for the long term...hopefully
Arab nationalism is dead. Too much defeat and humiliation in last few decades. At local level, they still have tribal raciest mentality but I don’t see any Pan-Arab thing emerging. Nationalism is gone religiosity is in.

The only way is to starve Iran of funds so that they can't afford their international adventures. The Arab world need to get completely on board with sanctions and denying Iranians the freedom to travel.
Iran is already in pretty bad shape and sanctions are hurting them bad. Still they will find a way to hurt their neighbors.

Some Arab countries and also Turkey still deal with Iran and there's all sorts of black market channels.

For example more Arab countries should cut ties with Lebanon, political & economic with a stipulation that they will only be restored once Hezbollah is disarmed. This will put great pressure on them which is already mounting because the Lebanese are fed up with Hezbollah (Tehran) dictating their affairs and destroying their economy.

Terrible news my heartfelt condolences to the iraqi people.

Well, Guess Iran is just protecting it's interests in the country.

Question is, will Iraq Be able to break free of Iranian influences, ever.

There are only two possibilities.

#1. Iraq go secular, and shun any religious (Shia/Iran) influence.
#2. Another foreign invasion that will Switch power back to secular/Sunnis, therefore away from Iranian proxies.
To me the first option seems to be the best course of action for the country. However, I find it hard to believe it will ever happen. Iranian proxies in Iraq won't remain silent/passive while this happens, since it will also affect their power base, authority, legitimacy and people will start questioning the need for these Iranian backed Shia militias and asking for their disbandment. Moreover there will also be other religious zealout groups who might not want to see this happen for obvious reasons.

This is a big journalist in Iraq and backlash is huge in Iraq. No one ever thought he was going to be targeted by these militias.

Iran's gov denounced the killing to try and save some face. Because everyone in Iraq knows whose behind these assassinations, the image of Iran declined a lot lately.

Some Iraqis already burned Iranian flags in the last demonstrations in 2019 which Qasem Salami helped to stop by getting pro-Iran militia to murder hundreds in the streets.

Hopefully even the Shia Iraqis can now see that partnering with Iran is a death sentence for society and economy. Just like Lebanon which is slowly dying a death.

RIP so who killed this guy ? Hashd ?

Meanwhile image of the US, country responsible for invading Iraq, a sovereign nation, overthrowing its government and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis is pretty positive right? The US is bombing, killing, attacking Iraq since the early 90's !

Barking at the wrong tree.

Why do you need to tie it to the US?

During the time of Saddam, Iraq was an enemy of both Iran and the US. Not that that ever changed apart from our state having been infiltrated by Iran.

Iraq eventually needs to do what it did in 2008/2009, attack the militias.

Who is responsible for the state of Iraq today ?
Who invaded Iraq under a false list of lies and murdered its native people ?
Who cruise missiled and bombed Iraq from 1990 til 2003 ?
Who put UN sanctions on Iraq and even denied basic food for Iraqi people, resulting in many Iraqi deaths including hundreds of infants and babies.
Who supported carving up Iraq and giving away Iraqi land to the Kurds ?
Who until this very moment still has army boots on the ground on Iraqi soil ?
Who is responsible for the rise of Shia power in Iraq ? Who ?
Don't distort history, everything is saved and will be saved for the future generations to look at. Do not fool people !
