They just extended the tail section to produce more turning power by tail rotors

whats a "turning power" ? never heard such phrase in my life .

so why didn't the initial developers (USA) do the same thing ?

if extending the "tail section" = more "turning power" then it's so stupid of them to design AH-1J supercobra like this .

The more powerful the main engine , the more counter rotating force on chopper's body .so for Keeping the chopper from spinig we need more turning power on tail and ultimately we need longer tail and biger tail rotors

well thats just a stupid thing to do , considering the fact that TV3 is a shitty engine

4000hp Vs. 1500hp . even if one of the engines has compressor stall or is shot , it still produces 500hp more than 2 T-400s combined .

because of 216 bing much more powerful than cobra we need longer tail to keep the chopper from spining

YES it seems the new Iranian heavy chopper is so close to this Denel bird... It is in no way is similar to Cobra as it has almost twice weight, dimensions, power, motor, and rotor rotation system, gearboxes, and more importantly its ceiling... Iranian one has 6200 ceiling which is huge for an attack heli while the cobras have something around 3200 meters of max ceiling.. I'm no helicopter expert but after reading the info @SOHEIL provided I guess it has something big to do with Denel than Cobras... btw, the Iranian project has similarity in design to that of Cobra's but not enough to call her an extension to Cobra's... They are different in principals..

even the armament is almost the same in number and arrangement:

Armament

• 1 × F2 20 mm cannon, 700 rounds[20]
• 8 or 16 × Mokopa ZT-6 long-range anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM),
• 4 × MBDA Mistral air-to-air missiles,
• 38 or 76 × 70 mm rockets folding fin aerial rockets (FFAR) or Wrap-Around (WA) (FZ90 70mm WA)[21]

So it is possible that Iran looked at this South African bird and Super Cobra at the same time to learn from both although the Iranian bird is still unique and very much an Iranian design as it has some differences in 3oth features, design and armament,....

btw, the Iranian heavy attack chopper is even stronger than American Apache!
