Meraj-4 is one of the radar used in the Bavar-373 airdefence system and was shown a few months ago. but today it has officialy been unveiled.

Me’raj 4 is a ground-based long-range 3D surveillance radar system which is equipped with state-of-the-art anti-electronic warfare systems. It is capable of tracking 200 targets and has a range of 450-500km.

Here is the image of meraj-4 radar from few months ago:

The Meraj radar showed today seems to have some addition features.

Some other systems were also revealed today. Those were:

Matla’ol Fajr 3 is a surveillance radar system with the capability of detecting and identifying two-dimensional targets in a range of 500 kilometers.

DME is a transponder-based radio navigation technology used in civil airports to establish contact between the cockpit and a ground station also shown.

Iran's defence minister noted that the Defense Ministry also unveiled a millimeter wave radar system which is used to find the level of liquid surface in storage tanks of oil refineries and petrochemical plants. It has a measurement precision of 1-5 millimeters.

. . . . .
what's the range of Bavar-373 missiles??

200km and 300km.

Respect. Was not aware that Iran has electronic component production capabilities.

Iran's electronic industry is very robust. Listen to what this MIT professor says about Iranian sharif university electronic engineering, this is from 9 years ago!

Brain drain is a problem yet a natural phenomenon..

hundreds of thousands of Europeans from all over Europe leave Europe for North America hoping for better future too... This is not only an Iranian problem... China, Europe, India, Korea, South East Asians of all types, Iran, Turkey, Russia, South Africa, Brasil, Argentina, and some others who basically produce BRAINS lose millions of them to best multinational companies around the world... Be it google or apple in USA, or Samsung and Toyota in Asia or BMW and Airbus in Europe... It is also interesting to know that there is a big number of North Americans who seek better option outside home... This has became a global issue...

Brain Drain in Iran has a special character among all...

# Iran had a population growth surge some 30 to 25 year ago due to public policies who encouraged more kids... Those millions of kids are graduated in big numbers today... Iranian industries, although diverse and big in size, yet lacks enough room for all these young graduates... Policy makers have seen it years ago... This was an imminent tsunami of brains...

What Iran did:

Plan A was:

1- Encouraged export of young experts...( Some 100K got exported to Australia and Korea)
2- Designed a program to help some of these graduates start their own businesses... (only some %25 to %30 of the program achieved)
3- Encouraged hundreds of thousands of them to study further (Study-further initiative) hoping to postpone their date of entry into job market.

The result was not satisfactory!

Plan B was/is:

1- Continuing 1 and 3 and canceled 2 from Plan.A .
2- Pouring funds into a national program to boost high-tech sector. This program was aimed at tens of thousands of top notch young scientists to encourage them have their own start-ups initiated in Iran... This program surprisingly succeeded! Some 40 Thousand quality brains absorbed by Iranian mostly private companies dispersed all over Iran... These 40 thousand scientists owned some 10000 high tech companies in 32 different provinces. They hired quality engineers/technicians in hundreds of thousands...
3- Encouraging Iranian scientists of diaspora nature to come back home put their experience and science into practice..

Above mentioned initiatives were some failure and some total success... Iran learned valuable lessons...

This made brain drain change its flavor... Today the majority of young Iranians who seek Europe and North America as immigrants are middle-class average individuals who seek social freedom more than economic or political comfort... Most of Iranian youngsters who apply for immigration today have no economical or political problems...

My personal experience tells me there are less smart graduates among them... This is good for Iranian gene pool for future... For your info, most Iranian immigrants between 1950-1979 were rich intellects...Between 1979 - 1990 were rich layers fleeing the Iraq-Iran war... 1990 - 2000 were average or below average economic immigrants... 2000-today are a mixture of young talents (also less numbers) and average young graduates seeking more social freedom (Western life style values)...

Yet brain drain can only be stopped through more attractive industries.. This will not be created overnight... The more Iran invests in quality industries the more brain drain lessens... Let's hope for better days... It is still not satisfactory for a nation like Iran.. Iran must drain others' brains next to exchange of science and expertise...

Good news. You would need a potent shorad and vshorad to protect this though. Gps jammer+radar decoys would also be necesaary to enhance its protection
