Iran has been caught out in another Photoshop blunder in an effort to prove its purported stealth fighter jet is the real deal.

An Iranian state news agency released a new picture of the radar-dodging jet flying above snow-covered mountains.

But the picture was immediately suspected to be fake, with the lighting on the plane and its position similar to its appearance in pictures on the ground in Tehran at the unveiling earlier this month.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad described it as "among the most advanced fighter jets in the world", capable of hitting ground and air targets by stealth, but experts dismissed it as a "laughable fake" which looks like a toy or mock-up model.

Now the new picture has also been laughed off, after it was revealed by The Atlantic Wire that the background image of the mountain was taken from the stock image site PickyWallpapers.com.

Aviation experts have questioned whether the jet shown can even fly as it was too small to accommodate a real pilot and the controls and wiring looked too simple. It also lacked the bolts and rivets found on all aircraft and offered wonky aerodynamics.

With the help of Adobe Engineers Iran has successfully flown the Qaher-313 at high altitude mountain range.

This wouldn't be the first time Iranian news or agency has been involved in photoshopping their technological achievements.

A few months back in Nov (and we discussed it on the forum as well). Iranian source was caught photoshopping a Japanese drone made by students at some Japanese university, and Iran claimed it was theirs...

Earlier this month, Iran's news agency provided visual evidence that its government had figured out to make a fancy new drone that could take off and land vertically. What they didn't tell us is that they used Photoshop to make it stop taking off from the roof of Japan's Chiba University, which built the aircraft and never had anything to do with Iran's alleged version of it.

All the credit of this photoshop spot goes to one Gary Mortimer, a blogging pilot who photo-sleuthed the Iranian drone, the KOKER 1, when it was unveiled on November 7. Here's actual visual evidence of the two images — the Iranian image is on the left, the Chiba University 2008 image is on the right — with the same building and everything... except for those windmill things:

The Iranian plane is in its concept stage. But Iranian govt never misses to use the opportunity as propaganda for domestic consumption as at the international level nobody would believe this.

Another case of Iranian digitally altering their images of military hardware and testing.

In an Iranian Image, a Missile Too Many

Latest update at 3 p.m. Eastern Agence France-Presse has retracted the image as “apparently digitally altered.” More developments at the bottom of the post.

You have the same exact smoke plumes repeated twice, which is nearly physically impossible. Some are speculating it was done because of a missile failed to fire. Who knows...

Any person with the least amount of vision can tell that this Photoshop is a very poor job. Though I don't believe or disbelieve Iran has the jet up and flying there is just not enough data but world has underestimated them quite a few times.

Why are some members here so eager to bash Iran?

Just because America says that Iran is "bad"?

Iran has surprised the world many times, even developing a working bio-capsule and sending a monkey into space, and bringing it back again unharmed.

It is easy to laugh at the progress of others. But in the end they are the ones making progress.

looks more like that Photoshop was done to insult Iran... no one is that stupid...

That's what I thought as well. The image looks so badly done, that it seems more like a ploy to discredit Iran rather than anything else.

Who is bashing Iran? The point is Iranian news agencies should not Photoshop images to try and deceive people, the image is watermarked and originally published by Khouz news of Iran.

What "bashing" has taken place? None.

Most people know Iran has made progress in many fields, but that doesn't mean media should be allowed to deceive people with photoshopped images.
