Iran’s Army Unveils Jamming Drone

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian Army Ground Force on Monday unveiled a homegrown Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) used for jamming and deception operations.
Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan attended an exhibition in Tehran on Monday morning, held to display the latest achievements of the force’s experts.

One of the items on display was a specific drone used in electronic warfare. The pilotless aircraft enjoys a jamming system that emits radio signals to paralyze the enemy’s communication systems.

A number of other aircraft were also unveiled in the event, including drones equipped with imaging and laser systems used for disrupting the activity of enemy drones.

Iran is now in possession of a broad range of UAVs which can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

In December 2014, Iran’s Army Ground Force for the first time utilized a type of suicide drone in a large-scale military exercise.

The Army Ground Force stages a range of different war games each year, including specialized exercises using drones.

Pourdastan had announced earlier that the army units have been equipped with a specific type of advanced suicide drone capable of destroying both air and ground targets.

No offense to the Iranian friends here but it's been a long time that I have been following PDF and gone through a lot of threads related to latest breakthroughs by Iran into defence but till today apart from 1 or 2 things I have Not seen anything solid out of it.

Hope you guys are still testing those techs to make them more potent and combat ready

Some of them have already been put in use. For example, Iran 's ballistic missiles have become a precision strike weapon without access to GPS or Iran's radar systems have become so potent that drones or spy planes can no longer enter Iran's air space without being detected or shoot down.

Mostly local R&D. The startup sector is very hot these days and a good number of them are working on defense projects.

I guess you need to look harder,sadly one of the best sites for this IMF now appears to be defunct.By the by I cant help but notice that some of indias big military programs either had some big problems or were cancelled altogether like the kaveri or excalibur while others like indias icbm and submarine programs look to be doing pretty well,the moral of the story is that not every program comes to fruition and those that do often take many years sometimes a decade or more from start to finish.

You seem totally oblivious to the fact that you don't need foreign 'experts'. That you can actually make things by yourself, without white men helping you.

I agree on that. As I initially wrote that my intention was just to know more about these news which comes out of the blues shoking the whole world I guess.

And when it comes to India and it's indigenous programmes then my friend I don't even think about them yet. Coz I know that we indans are best in messing up things and make sure that we do not make anything in house because we love western and Russian stuff you know

Iran is alone.. Not even having the help of her so called friends (Russia, China)... Alone baby alone... But this only made proud Iranians to be braver.. This is an Iranian culture thing... The more you push the more we work...

Iran has limited budget for military development... It is only couple of years since Iran started to allocate serious funds to its RD and mass production... Weaponry is a wide field... It has hundreds of systems to produce and in big numbers... We also have our own conflict of interest wars all around the region.. It costs huge amount of money...

Despite being alone and having limited funds, Iran after 2 decades of starting to believe herself and herself alone is now a pioneer or one of the best globally in Drone, missile (all sorts of them), radars (small to multi thousand kms, dopplers, HFs to OTH and PESA, AESAs), Navy warships (frigates up to 2300 t under construction or already operational and plans to finish 6000 t warships), Missile ships, Missile speed boats, midget submarines, heavy submarines, infantry, sniper, Gatlings, anti-armor SFMs, air defense, shields, jamming, etc

You can never expect a 13 billion dollar budget feed a huge army and have enough left to mass produce or advance all above mentioned weapons... It needs a +100 billion dollar scale budget to be able to do what other advanced nations are doing...

But we should also keep it in mind that Iran makes weapons for far cheaper prices... faaaaar cheaper... It sometimes costs one tenth comparing to other weapon producer nations... So, what Iran has done so far is what other nations are either not even daring to dream about or has done it in 5 times the time Iran spent so far...

Most Iranian armed forces and some other countries are using IRanian made weapons today... Iraqi forces in Iraq fighting Takfiri terrorists are using Iranian weapons in mass... Iran has had weaponry exports to +50 countries so far...

Don't you really expect Iran to produce an F-35 by now!? F-35 is the fruit of over hundred years of science and tech work in the whole world... Iran has to invent lots of techs again by herself.. This makes it a tough business for Iran... although, Iran is not advancing in the same rate as West but much much faster... this means the distance will be offset sooner than you think...
Today Iran is very different from Iran 10 years ago... Today, Iran has tens of thousands of private high tech or R&D companies working hand in hand in both civil and military industries.. and their number is growing fast... This means day over day we are going to witness bigger defense sector with more solid achievements used both locally and globally...
