TEHRAN (Tasnim News) – Representatives from a whole range of Iranian tribes and clans staged a large-scale wargame dubbed “Ela Beit ul-Muqaddas” (Towards al-Quds) in the western province of Kermanshah in a bid to demonstrate their solidarity.

I didn't know Iranians had tribes. I thought they were highly urbanized people, way past the tribes and stuff.

Luri and Bakhtiari Persians number more than 3 or so million and are mainly nomad.

This Tanem guy posts always in Iranian section rather than Turkish section..... weird situation i would say for someone who flies our flag.

Yes and no. Basically people can identify themselves as "Pars" or "Azeri/Turk" or "Turkmen" etc... That's as far as it goes and that's what they mean by "tribes" in this article. The article is also an attempt to show that Iran is united and all the other bs that the regime cares about.

In Arab countries, as well as AFG and Pakistan, people actually have tribes within individual ethnic divisions. That's something completely foreign in Iran. When people say tribes they're talking about their own ethnic identity not in the arab/pakistani/Afghan sense of the word.
