@Abii Forget about Mojo buddy. Bullet are heavy and tough to handle at slow speed. If it tilts towards right at very slow speed, you will definitely fall. And you don't want to lie on bed for a month or more because you thought more about Mojo, :D

P.S. Abii, this one is coming stateside too. At a price that will warm your heart. And no problems keeping up on the highway either (44 bhp, 135 kilos, top speed around 175 kmph).

That said, owning a bullet is a rite of passage into manhood.

An itch every red-blooded man must scratch at least once in his life (I did it thrice .....)

So if you have your heart set on it, I can help you out (if you want me to ship you one from India).

The paperwork and homologation will be a huge pain for you though.

Easier to buy one there (California), but of course 3-4 times more expensive.

vs, I'm gonna wait till I get my license and get one second hand in the US. I want to try to have my license ready by June. Buying it here will save me all the trouble with the emission tests in Canada and all the other headache. Hopefully by June there will be a few 2012 models laying around for sale. But thanks a lot for the offer, appreciate it.

I'm gonna see how much this is gonna go for on ebay. It's brand new, but it'll go for less than the MSRP. In the used market I should be able to get something affordable.

It's funny how I've never had ANY interest in mechanics and fixing my car etc... but I'm just itching to get my hands on one of these so I can modify it as much as I can. First thing that will go is all the chrome. Matte black will look sick on this.

I wanna make it look like this vintage triumph as much as I can. The stock Enflield looks way better than the stock vintage triumph military bike btw so after playing around with it for a while (painting the chrome matte black, adding accessories etc...) it'll look even better than this.

More pics of that modified vintage Triumph. It's a Triumph Bonneville (I think it's a 1961 model). It's inspired from the movie The Great Escape and the modification was done by a company called Drags & Racing.

@Abii - what is the safe speed you need to maintain on your highways out there so that you do not get rear-ended and run over?

Please note - while the "theoretical" top speed of the C5 is 135 kmph, NO Bullet, be it 350 or 500, is happy at anything over 90-100 kmph for extended running.

These are ancient 1950s technology air cooled engines with push rod driven cams (instead of single/double overhead chain driven ones).

Admittedly the C5 now has fuel injection, electronic ignition, ECU, and all the modern doo-dah. But its still an Enfield. It will still leak oil ("mark its territory"). It will still overheat. Cables will still snap and the most inopportune moment. Clutch will slip and overheat and wear out. Chain will eat sprockets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It will rattle and hum and shake and vibrate such that you do not need a massage after a long ride - hours after your hands and fingers stop tingling and your vision clears and your ears stop ringing.

But the slow thump and feel and aural orgasm is unlike any other bike out there in the world. And I would not sell my old 2002 Bullet 500 for anything in the world.

tbh I can't recall if I've ever seen any speed limit higher than 100 km/h, and that was outside the city. Inside it's usually 75-90 km/h so that's fine. There could very well be higher speed limits than 100 in other cities, but there's always the right lane for the turtles lol

I'm assuming you've owned a sport bike. How far can you ride one of those comfortably? Of course they're not meant for long distance road trips, but can you take one for a 6-7 hour ride or maybe even more? The position of the rider on a sport bike makes it very uncomfortable I'm guessing.

I rode a bullet only twice - STD 350 - it felt like better than having an orgasm - just cant explain the feeling in words - didnt get one as my dad wont give me enough money for petrol riding that beast :(.

Yes riding position is important and the Bullet has a comfortable upright one. If anything, the foot pegs are too forward and could have been slightly more rear set.

If those are the speed limits you have, then happily ride the Bullet. Out her in India, we have speed archaic speed limits (mostly formulated when the British were still here) but in reality it is the Wild West and nobody pays heed, even though we have speed traps and cameras on some big highways and expressways now.

So on my KTM, I cruise at 110-120 kmph, and am now looking for a bike with a top-end of close to 170-180, so that I can cruise at 140-150.

Obviously the Bullet is not built for those speeds.

Yes, lots of fiends have gotten the matte black finish - but it tends to chip off (due to heat, stones, etc.) over time, and then it looks very ugly.

Btw, we are talking about an old school authentic Brit single here. What you mistakenly assume to be American Harley-style chrome is actually raw buffed to a high shine aluminium.

Bulleteers take great pleasure (and a lot of pain and elbow grease) in keeping those arts buffed shiny (Mother's, 3M, etc.).

Trivia: Royal Enfield is actually one year older than Harley-Davidson. This is their 111th year anniversary.

The old cast iron engined Bullet, with the gears on the right and the brake on the left, is in the Guinness book as the motorcycle model with the longest standing uninterrupted production run in the world (early 50s to 2010). A true living (now sadly dead) Classic.
