Given it's called the "Hormuz" project, and the fact that the missiles are probably relatively short ranged, don't you think it'll actually be used in the straits of Hormuz mostly? If using the Mersad-16 missiles, it could give SAM cover to IRGC-N fast boats operating in and around the strait. And it has the speed to back that up.

I'd wager the 6000-7000 tons destroyers would be air defence destroyers armed with a naval Bavar-373, intended to operate further out into the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea or even further. It would be better for these to protect specialised anti-ship frigates with ASBMs or supersonic ASCMs. If you tried to fit those bulky weapons into a destroyer it would cost you space that could be used for long range SAM protection. Specialisation = more combat power from each ship.

Yes it would be a good idea to have a SAM system for those VLS that covers out to around 50km, from Shalamsheh-2 to Sayyad-2/3 size.
Cost is very important here as those SAMs would be used for defense against incoming missiles.

We may see a Shalamsheh-2 like missile with a nose gas thruster to pivot the missile into the right direction (if cold launch is applied). If TVC is used and hot launch, then the cost of each missile will increase.

Smaller VLS container for such medium SAMs could even support smaller LACM like a "Yemeni" Qods, making it multi-role.

For a naval Bavar-373 the 7000t destroyer makes sense yes. Those trimarans with their 50km range SAMs and massive CIWS firepower, would protect the group. While large VLS container equipped destroyers would do area denial and try to down the launching platforms.

One point is that even a short range Tor-M1 class self-defense missile would make sense here. The larger the missile gets the more it costs per round. The max. limit would be a Sayyad-2 with TVC imo.

The hangar and landingpad will also play a increasingly important role for its offensive capabilities.
Instead of 2 helicopters, one helicopter and 4 Sejil UCAV could be used to economically bomb land and sea targets with Balaban PGMs. So a continued, affordable, long-range bombing campaign and significant offensive capability can be deployed by each trimaran, beside its primary group defense role.

Iran needs such next-generation concepts for its naval power, because otherwise with conventional concepts, it will never reach the naval power it needs for the regional superpower role.

Nedaja receives first batch of 3 two-seat Chakavak trainer aircraft.

During the delivery ceremony in Bandar Abbas, Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said, “We seek to boost the knowledge, science and skills of our pilots in the naval fleet”.

The Chakavak (Lark) ultra-light single-engine turboprop aircraft has been designed and manufactured by an Iranian knowledge-based company and has a service ceiling of 14,000 ft, a maximum speed of 280 km/h, and a flight endurance of 4.5 hrs.

Good to see the Seraj TI search and track system on the Alvand for the Kamand CIWS.

So this is the upgrade package for legacy ships. Seraj may even enable the frontal 114mm gun to be used in AAA role.

On new ships with S- and X-band AESAs, the central system of the ship would likely do the targeting and reduce radar signature.

why don't they remove the old Radar's?!......is it related to the budget or any technical problem!

The picture also shows the manual sight and control system for the CIWS as well.

Heres a picture of an AK630 being operated in manual fire mode using this system.

This is the H/PJ-13,its the modified chinese made version of the AK630 and bares a passing similarity to the Kamand in looks and likely has the exact same level of performance.

The other interesting thing is the size difference between the 2 CIWS installations

The Alvand mounting looks to be about half the size of the one on the Sahand for some reason.
