It might have some use for anti-piracy missions. But obviously, if it takes the space of an important system like a CIWS, and can't be mounted anywhere else, obviously I'd choose the CIWS. Iran can fit 2 CIWS on these ships, on the front and back in place of the 20 mm and 40 mm guns.
now after getting rid of the 40mm Fath , they must find something useful to replace those 20mm Orlekion and after that they must replace those 12.7mm machine guns with something controlled by radar or from inside the ships remotely.
there is no meaning in putting the soldiers on deck for such operation at the time of engagement ,it only increase the chance of accident and reduce efficiency .

the frustrating part is they already shown such systems, but for some reasons they won't use it

corruption and mismanagement ....

Honestly, the 76mm main gun is more than enough for that.

Exactly - it's overkill for pirates in small speedboats.

There is no need to add extra complexity by having automated .50 cals. Even large vessels like the Arleigh Burke destroyers don't have those. In any case, I don't think the Jamaran warships don't even have crew served machine guns. The smallest calibre weapon is the 20 mm Oerlikon cannon.

Jamaran has re option for them to be installed and Alvand class have them

About adding to complexity well this 2400t guy have them controlled remotely

The only possible situation in which a Mowj class frigate would be using .50 cals would be against pirates or drug smugglers. These types of threats generally don't fire back against a 1500 ton warship, especially with not remotely enough accuracy to hit crew.

If it's good enough for a 10,000 ton Ticonderoga cruiser, it's good enough for our 1500 ton frigates.

They use those guns against air threats like incoming missile, torpedoes and also against surface targets like pirate boats foolish enough to attack warship

Or being suicidal

It's not important for what porous you use it if you control it remotely its a lot easier to compensate for shaking your precision as far more and also you have far less stress and you make better decision.

Wow those morons were firing on a 4,100 ton USN frigate

OK I guess they would fire back, but there are very few instances of this happening and hurting crew. I think it is a bit much to expect of our management to transfer a relatively sophisticated army solution to a very low tech almost-non-issue, I'd rather we prioritise CIWS and VLS for now. In any case I don't think it is worth the money and effort.

You knew what make me angry is that they already did all the research and development on this systems they even built some and then what ,they shelved it till one branch of the armed force become interested

At the current rate that Iran does anything, it would take a century for anything big to get done in Iran. Although these robots would be very useful on a tactical basis, for individual platoons.

Iran to Unveil New Submarine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Navy is going to unveil a new homegrown submarine in coming days, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the top commander said the new watercraft will be the last one of midget-class submarines at the Navy’s disposal.

The Iranian Navy will begin to receive a new generation of submarines as of next year, he added.

Rear Admiral Khanzadi also said that a military vessel of Jamaran-class destroyers will join the southern fleet in the current Iranian year, which will end on March 20.

Iran’s Navy is in charge of protecting Iran’s southern territorial waters in the Sea of Oman, while the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is tasked with ensuring security of the Persian Gulf.

In recent years, Iran’s Navy has made great advances in making homegrown equipment and has increased its presence in high seas to secure naval routes and protect vessels against pirate attacks.

In November 2017, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for the expansion of the Navy’s capabilities by making use of the country’s advances in other sectors.

The Navy should enhance its capabilities both in terms of military gear and combat power, Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.
