Marine transaxle gearbox unveiled
If only they'd actually finish the 2 in Bandar Abbas!
Some of the part's & weapons aren't up to the navy & their rate of development on frigates is fine they need to do better on the Fatteh Class production if it's passed all it's testsIf only they'd actually finish the 2 in Bandar Abbas!

At least Iran's Navy unlike the IRIAF isn't just sitting and waiting for the government to hand them or buy them equipment
Agreed, frankly it seems like a total waste of resources to be building boats that even when new would be virtually obsolescent .It would be smarter to spend those resources developing the systems ie sams, vls, ciws, radars etc.. to be used in a modern destroyer based on the kalij fars hull, that way you would at least have a modern destroyer rather than a slightly upgraded 1960s era frigate which is literally what you have now.I just wonder what these frigates are for. They are lightly armed. They don't have VLS and only carry 2 SAMs, and 4 ASHMs. They are no more powerful armament wise than a Sina class FAC. And we are building 7 of these.
But what missions can they carry out? In open sea you need firepower because of the long ranges and lack of coastal support. These ships do not have much firepower.1) these units can carry out prolonged missions in the blue sea, the Sina no!

Thanks but I didn't. There is no point in Iran trying to fight the USN in open sea.If you look at the Navy as just a tool to be used in a war against the U.S. then YES!

It's just some the the weapons choices that baffle me a LOT.
For example look at these Quad C-802 launchers on a PN Zulfiqar.
The C-802 and the Noor/Qader are VERY similar for obvious reasons. They are of similar weight. Yet the Mowj class only has dual box mounted Noor/Qaders. So half the firepower of most surface ships its size for NO DISCERNABLE REASON. There is NO technological, financial or space saving reason for this example of under arming.
