They build a mock up carrier and instead of at least following the remotest of possibilities, they went with the total full retard option.

1) Let's not put the carrier 200-300 km away. In a real war, the Americans will park 2 km off the coast after all.

2) Let's ignore the 5-10 battle ships that escort the carrier, Imam Hussein will take care of those in the real war.

3) Let's ignore the carriers own defenses, those are all propaganda. They're not real. Americans are lying.

4) Let's ignore the personnel on board when we're boarding it. In a real war they'd be too at awe of Iran's awesomeness to fight. 1500-3000 soldiers on board? pft..... those shaved American soldiers are pussies.

Not all the equipment in the drill are meant to fight U.S. Sometimes a simple Robot can secure a border area, targeting any moving object that is not supposed to be there. Of course they have their downsides, but they can save lives in many cases.
