Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

You simply don’t understand basic concepts.

Turkey that has a GDP DOUBLE that of Iran has military budget of 13-14 billion. So Iran is actually well within simple economics for its military budget.

Iran recently hacked Australia’s Navy shipbuilder, why? Because it needs access to MODERN warship designs.

The fact that you think Iran can just simply enlarge the Mowj shows your lack of knowledge!

The Mowj is a 1960’s design, I don’t care how much lipstick you put on a pig, at the end of the day it is not a Victoria secret model! It is a pig!

And the thing you don’t understand about a country like UAE or Qatar or KSA is they have SMALL POPULATIONS but VERY LARGE income from oil/gas. Thus have a lot of extra money to spend. You can’t compare Iran to these countries.

Iran has a LARGE population and is under SEVERE sanctions. Furthermore, it had to spend BILLIONS to prop up Syria from falling during the foreign sponsored war.

So yes, Iran’s military is low compared to countries that have low expenditure, but high revenue. But compared to other countries (like Turkey) it’s well within reasonable.

If you expect Iran to build an armada or conduct a massive military build up, you are looking at the wrong country.

The thing holding Iran back is not money (IRGC is swimming in it from illegal activities). It is the factions of the republic and the rivalry between these factions. Until all factions get paid they will prevent the smallest change from happening within the republic least it help another faction become more powerful.

This is why Nazi Germany and Communist China were able to become so powerful so quickly. It was a one party system that squashed dissent and shared one ideology, one goal.

Iran in comparison is a hundred party system. It is even more dysfunctional than capitalistic and socialistic western countries.

Prior to 1979 Iran was pumping the most oil in its history at over 6 Million BPD. A feat never achieved during IRI even though more oil fields have come online and technology advancement has been rapid.

In 1979 China was one of the poorest countries in the world. 90% or 9 out of 10 people lived In poverty (less than 2 dollars a day). By 2012 that number fell to 6.5%

The thing holding Iran back from full potential is Iran itself. If the problems could magically be solved by increasing military budget, don’t you think Rahbar would do that? Or do you think you are the smartest Iranian on the planet and can lead Iran to greatness?

Iran buying a few destroyers from China or Russia to understand modern naval design is a drop in the bucket compared to expecting these Mowj ships to do anything besides be propaganda toys.

What radar is that? Arash? What happened to the phased array radar?

Of the gatling type cannon it is impossible at the moment to know 100% what it is, since it is not possible to see the whole weapon, nor is it known in which caliber it is.
But if you look closely at the photos I posted on the previous pages, not even the stealth dome looks like the Chinese one,

but it's a completely new structure that does not look like any other

a curiosity, observing the turret, the Gatling in addition to having high angles of elevation, also has high angles in depression

Attacking incoming low flying missiles very close to the ship? That probably explained it's installation location.

Ok, It is approved.. The CIWS installed on Sahand frigate is the Iranian made KAMAND CIWS. It has 4000 to 7000 rpm and the range is 4km. It also acts autonomous which means it uses its own radars probably mounted on the mast. Kamand system is also being installed on the second warship already:

. . .
With all the progress that we have seen in Iranian domestic Radar production it is really perplexing to see what looks like the original radar built for the Jamaran being mounted on Iran's newest "most advanced" frigate.

.
on Jamaran and Damavand the phased array radar was installed on a specific superstructure, I think the radar system is very heavy, positioned in the middle of the ship
The Sahand has a new superstructure that differs from the other two frigates, and in the new configuration there is not enough space to install the same structure present in the Jamaran and Damavand.
Therefore you should use the structure used by the currently installed radar, but you have to assess if this structure has the characteristics of resistance to accommodate the same phased array radar system of the Jamaran, or you have to work to lower the weight of the entire radar system.

More likely targeting torpedoes , hitting low flying missile at that close range won't make that much difference but preventing torpedo from exploding under your ship mean saving the ship from breaking in two .

where is the submarine??

1st off Turkey is part of NATO 2ndly Turkey military spending is $20Billion for 2018 and they spent over $18 Billion in 2017 Finally, show me one country on the entire Planet who spends under $15 Billion USD on it's military and has a Navy, Airforce and Army the size of Turkey because such a country simply does not exist.
And you simply don't know enough about the Turkish military to know what is included as a part of their budget and what is not and what get budgeted separately and what does not!

And a countries military spending per GDP only matters when the vast majority of the revenue going to the government of that country comes directly from Taxes and that's simply not the case in Iran.

For Iran you have to take into account The size of the country, The size of your population, The size of your armed forces, the security challenges facing your country,.... And the Turks don't have a superpower breathing down their necks and most of their security challenges is about terrorists.

Well if it isn’t the pot calling the kettle black!

What makes you think you know the TRUE military budget of Iran military? As anyone can tell you the official budget is NOT the actual amount of money spent on the military as IRGC has its own funding. Furthermore there are sources of funding outside of the official budget that Majils does not vote on!

I was thinking about that too. But modern torpedoes explode under the hull meaning they move at a depth of 9m or lower. Those bullets are not going to have much energy left after moving 9m into the water.

come on , the gun is at least 20mm

ارتش ناوشکن 200 متری می‌سازد/ برد موشک شناورها از 300 کیلومتر فراتر می رود

You know that a ship is created in separate sections, but in the end all of them must eventually be connected together and released into the water, so if we have the infrastructure of making larger vessels, both in size and in tonnage, We can easily build them, which, of course, is on the agenda, and our next project will be a 200-meter-long destroyer, which will measure our fleet size from 97 meters to 200 meters. and will make our anti-surface cruise missiles range to go above 300 km.

Iran's submarine cruise missile called Jask 2 .

The under water missile tube is so big that is capable of carrying the missile up to several dozen kilometers under water and above the surface.
