Iranian murderer pardoned as he swings from gallows

What i'm asking is, when a public execution happens, do people gather and watch the execution like a social event ? Like we saw in the movies ?

Well they usually bring the criminal to the crime scenes for execution and usually family of the victim or the victim is present and sometime victim relatives carry out the sentence, my friend said when they brought them(very early in the morning) there were a lot of noise and police was announcing their crimes and sentences on loudspeaker so some people came out(mostly out of curiosity) my friend and his father have also went out he said when they were hanging them some were saying that they deserve it and also some were sad and unhappy he saw some man was crying when he asked him if one of those four was one of his relatives he said no but he was upset that some young people have been executed.

I believe that most people come out for curiosity, this does not mean that they are savage and I think every were people are people and in the same situation they will act the same.

here people gather if there is any event no matter if it's filming a movie , an street act , or an accident or a fight or ...... . a hanging is also a event so no wonder that people gather

Apparently that is too "inhumane".

It should be done without the masses watching because it is simply a fitting punishment for a child rapist. It should be surgical, without a emotions, just punishment.

Capital punishment makes you no better than the murderers themselves and indeed capital punishment does little to deter serious crimes.
I'd expect such scenes in 13th century England, with the crowd throwing rotten fruit at people in the stocks.

by the way hanging like what we do is painful if the guy is light weight or have some defect like lack of a leg . otherwise the blood flow to the brain will be cut very soon

if you think our young people have got away from religion, then you just need to watch pre revolution videos and pictures.
just a few months ago a few gangsters were hanged in Shiraz, I didn't even hear about it at that time and even if I was there I wouldn't waste a second of my time to watch them, but clearly it's a message to those who want to bully civilians, all the Iranian are happy with the level of security in streets, and they even demand more severe punishment to gangsters (instead of prison sentences), so if you think a secular government can stand against society demand and reduce the punishment, you are far away from the reality

Their are different and probably cheaper forms of execution than hanging. Also executions are not a show to do it outside, where children and pregnant women and people with weak hart and emotional people walk around.
And finally the problem is that when you execute someone in public it destroys the image of a nation. From the reaction I hear in the west, the people think what a savage and backward nation. Also the media of the enemy enjoys these execution shows and milks it out for the propaganda at home ("see now, we should not let these backward nation build nukes or progress in nuclear energy"). It scares the **** out of potential tourists and investors.

But hey, what do these mullahs know about marketing?

Severe punishments will not lower the crime rates, will not solve the problems. Give people jobs, let them prosper, stabalize the economy, work on prevention of crimes, set up rehabilitation programs for prisoners, there are so many ways to fight crime.
Like in Amerika, the right wing rednecks think they can solve problems with severe punishments, but look at their society...

Nope,It doesn't.Its proven.Capital punishment has never been shown to be a deterrent.There are many academic studies in this field and all have proven this fact.Some studies have proposed a "brutalizing effect," wherein people (consciously or not) follow the government's lead in assuming that killing someone is indeed a valid solution to a problem.So in some cases it may work exactly opposite.Just look at the crime rate in Nordic countries.

it's a change of heart . the family of the victim first thought they want the revenge and then they saw they can't do it.

and only for several second the man is conscious after that because of the lack of blood flow to brain the person become unconscious

security of our people is more important than western media, they will keep their propaganda, if it's not this, it will be something else, good economy will lower the crime rate, and low punishments will increase it with higher slope. I already posted the statistics about crime rate in the world, Iran's crime rate is so low, it even isn't in that list.
you kill someone, and your punishment would be death, pure and simple. you mentioned about pregnant women, well they can ignore it and pass away, nobody forces them to watch, children also will definitely ask what's going on and somebody will tell them the story, so what these gangsters have done remains a taboo in his mind, and we know something that has inspired you in childhood, has the strongest deterrent.
after all this is Islam's decision, and we believe Goad is smarter than all humans, Now either you believe in Islam or not, but we believe it and will exercise it no matter what the others think, and indeed so far it has worked greet.

The laws of Allah might work partly, but they are not updated (just like windows 95, we have windows 8 now) and we see safety is better in North-West Europe. Believe me Allah/God would like to see all humans live in safety, how more safe how better.

how about you show me numbers for russia, india, eastern europe, or south america where they do have all these laws and then compare them to iran since they all have people at the same level( less educated, and poor). your comparing iran and saudi arabia to countries that very highly educated and very developed so people are going to be more civilized there. but when you compare countries on the same level as iran to each other, then iran is waaaaaaaaaaay safer , less murders and all that good stuff.
