Footage of Shahid Moghaddam and colleagues observing solid fuel engine tests, likely 13-15 years ago

The second engine possibly was intended to serve as the second stage of the "Ghaem" SLV/ICBM

It's clear that the loss of Shahid Moghaddam and his team set Iran's long-range missile/SLV efforts back at least 10-15 years and all their efforts were essentially lost.

Although new solid-fuel projects emerged in their place and have begun to bear fruit in recent years (e.g. Raafe), we still have not seen a engine larger than 1.5m diameter (in the same class as the Ghaem first stage engine which likely dates back to c. 2008-2010)

Very tragic.

Although their have been SAT images that show engines probably at around 1.5 -2 m a few years ago based on length of burn marks.

'We haven't seen these ergo they don't exist". Huh.

static tests have possibly taken place but considering the size of engines Shahid Moghaddam and his team were working on in 2008-2010, it is obvious we have fallen far behind as ISA is still using clustered SCUD engines for Simorgh and IRGC is using a 1.5m diameter Raafe to carry only 80kg payload to LEO

It looks like its either early testing of the airframe without the motor,or its a new configuration with the engine mounted under the airframe like the soumar.
The first pic does show a shadow on the ground where you would expect an underslung mounted engine to be.

The nose section of the airframe looks to have been lengthened as well.
In the first pics that we saw of the paveh,with the top mounted engine,the wings were mounted [roughly] 2/3rds of the way along the length of the airframe,now its much closer to a little over half of the length.

or the engine was inside the missile at beginning and later for some reason it moved under it, hope it go back inside in later versions

The first images released of the paveh had a top mounted engine behind the wings and an "X" configuration rear control surface layout.

But,yeah I also think putting the engine inside the airframe would be the better way to go

If putting the engine on the top allows for shortening of the missile enough to fit it on a 6x6 truck. Then it's absolutely worth it.
