The Alborz Province in the northern part of Iran has opened the country’s first locomotive factory, UMMA Inform reports.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the opening.

The factory will produce 120 locomotives annually. They will save 10% of fuel. Iranian locomotives may reach a speed of 160 km/h using 25% less fuel, compared with analogue models.

Engineers say that the national locomotives of Iran meet international standards. Only a few states have technologies for their production.

A possible avenue for Pakistan to get Locomotives

Its really astonishing that Iran with Sanctions can make 120 Locomotives a years yet Pakistan with no sanction can only produce a Japanese Replica (Assembly)

Sir many of Pakistani posters have said that Chinese ones are good as dead. Too much problem. Atleast believe their words.

The chinese engines were destroyed by putting in OLD oil criminal Negligence

There is no reason why a tender can not go out for Both Iran and China

Since Iran is closed to our border for train route it would make sense if we had Iranian Locomotives any quick over haul could be done in Iran or their engineers can train local workers

Why Ship GM engines from USA or other European country just get it from Iran or China

I mean its just mind boggling while our Engineers can't manufacture a car engine - Iran with its 20 year focus on engineering and University has now moved into making first world items

a) Locomotives
b) Destroyers
c) Petroleum processing factory etc

Why because they severed ties with NATO and went on their own path of discovery and standing on their own feet

Mean while we as nation have just supplied man power to Gulf so all the engineering work that could have been done in Pakistan was done in Gulf countries

Put in Order for 50 engines from Iran , and 50 from China and repair 100 locally

When Pakistan bought locomotives from China and they are all broke down easily.

Well they broke down because , Maintenance personnel , were reusing "USED" oil for engines , so dirty oil was pumped into engines which caused damage to critical components of engines. Just because railway could not get clean Engine Oil for lubrication

The Chinese engines otherwise are good just that Railway engineers caused harm to state property with neglect

In any case , Pakistan also have Rasulpor Railway factory from 2007 , and even Japanese consultants wrote in their report that the workers always get the work done but the organization is always delayed to order parts

"THE PROBLEM of ordering parts" shows that we cannot engineer parts ..

With out engineering base ... you can't import items all your life

We can get Indian engines heck , if they are not maintained same problem

So whats ur recommendation for buying Iranian engines when they are not maintained well ?!!
Hope India dont sell locomotives to pakistan... Cos if engines fail due to maintainance, thay will accuse Indian quality, and if it was involved in accident it will be a RAW CIA MOSSAD conspiracy.....
