Actually that is not weird at all. The plan was for the guy to go to Iran and pretend that he is a patriotic Iranian working for US army and has come to Iran to sell some info to Iranians and he needed the card to prove his story. But Iranians knew better.

Really it seems to me that Muslims are the most hated in the ME. Already people are afraid of another Civil War between Muslims. Iranians are being feared by the Gulf States and Syria is being betrayed by Muslim states who should be backing them when the U.S. is demanding the President of Syria to step down. So don't tell me that America is the most hated in the ME. Actions speaks louder than words.

Really it seems to me that Muslims are the most hated in the ME ( Because you see things from the prism of the american prospective no matter how irrelevant it is from the ground realties want some hint (your recent adventure which backfired eg: Egypt) seems to me the U.S foreign policy dint learn from it ). Already people are afraid of another Civil War between Muslims ( if your concerns has even an iota of genuinity then stop fueling it ) .
