That thing is huge .... Probably a two man crew.

Reduce the barrel size and caliber and you have a nice sniper rifle for army

We have a nice sniper rifle for army . But this one is not built to be nice it have been designed to be a bad a$$ rifle that can peneterate armored wehicles from 3km away. The nice one is sayyad that only have 1.8km of effective range and is a copy of steyer hs. 50 we have nakhjir with effective range of 800m which is a copy of dragonove .

Plus, the Apache´s crew compartment and the rotor blades are designed to survive hits from 23-millimeter zu-23 rounds.

The Apache can even take a direct hit from a 155 mm howitzer. However, it will need a new paint job.

There are benefits when someone brings up an old thread. 3 months ago this guy was saying Hezbollah is switching sides.

Cut the crap, are you gonna run hand-in-hand in a field of flowers together next? In the end its all bussenis, as we speak groups like hezbollahs are considering to change sides to FSA, Because its simply benefits them, They couldnt care less about Iran or Turkey for that mather. The point is everyone does everything for its own interests.

No, I must be the person to feel sorry for you to live in such delusion, knowing the difference between 'Brothers' and 'friends' is crucial in politics, FSA is a friend we use for our benefit, as they use us for there own. Thats how the world works braindeath retard, seems the hypcocrisy is strong in you since Iran is no different at all, they might not show it, But its just how it is. I accepts it for what it is, Its not about how i see the world, but simply how it actually is currently. Cry me a river cry baby

In the 70's and 80's era, such a weapon may work against helicopters. Otherwise no, not particularly effective.

It's a cool looking anti-material rifle though.

I have a question , is there a difference between the infrared signature of a sniper with a civilian in a city or village before or after he fired at the Apache ,. and if this infra red system have the ability of tracking several hundred people at the same time ?

I suppose it is a staring IIR sensor, which will pick up on the muzzle flash, not the person holding the rifle.

The Apache can even take a direct hit from a 155 mm howitzer. However, it will need a new paint job.

Luckily, the US military has developed a mobile forward paint shop....

The crew compartments are arranged in tandem and areseparated by a ballistic shield (fig 2-13)....The canopy frame and the transparent ballistic shield form a rollover structure. To provide for maximum survival and minimum vulnerability, armored seats are installed in both crew compartments... They are one-piece armored seats equipped with back, seat, and lum-bar support cushions.

Apache AH-64 Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) 1976-2005 / Chris Bishop
http://books.google.nl/books?id=Mav...v=onepage&q=apache "armor protection"&f=false

Research done after initial fielding of the
Apache by AATD, combined with experience gained by Boeing in developing composite
blades for the CH-47, the commercial model MD-900, and the Comanche (the planned
armed reconnaissance helicopter that the DOD canceled in 2004), resulted in new
materials and analytical tools for blade spar sizing. This allowed the design of a new
single spar, all-composite main rotor blade for the Apache, which is planned for fielding
in 2008.85 The design process for the composite spar was noteworthy. The design was
generated and refined using a series of prototype blade sections subjected to 23mm HEI
live-fire testing.86 Refinements in the design after each test resulted in a final design that
exceeded the capability of the original metal blade design to continue operations after
damage from a 23mm HEI round.

Forget armor and heat signatures!

Did anyone mention how almost impossible it'd be to shoot down a fast moving target at such great distances with a sniper rifle? It'd be very naive to think that an Apache can go down with one shot from that rifle.

Nonetheless, it's an impressive design for an anti-material rifle. Though, sort of overkill.

About hitting the target it's like hunting bird , you estimate the distance and shoot at were the target would be he the bullet reach the target not at the target .

it's why not every body can be a sniper , they are trained for hitting the target not for shooting at it.
and they can work in pairs

Before they shoot the rifle... they will be picked up by helis......... it would make a good anti material sniper rifle though!

well if you look at the tip of the barrel you see why looking for muzzle flash is not a good Idea.
by the way there is ways to blind these infrared detection systems at night. have you seen what happen if at night you are looking through night vision and then somebody decide its good time to fire a flare

Before they shoot the rifle... they will be picked up by helis......... it would make a good anti material sniper rifle though!

no they simply won't as their signature is no different from any other person in the vicinity or even the background environment . we are talking about a country in middle east not a snow covered country near pole

.
Don't you guys think Shaher or Taktab would be more effective than this?Their effective ranges are 3km
