Since nobody is being the Devils advocate, then I’ll have to raise the question:
The kian trucks look a lot like Volvo trucks. What the deal here? In the grey area between only re-badging and completely new, what are you guys thought on this truck?

as far as i know volvo was assembling trucks in Iran.
if i remember right they stopped in 2018 due the sanctios trump imposed on Iran. maybe Iran just used the assemble line and the IRGC and Army could take the design and some technology from volvo and build the kian (of course modified for their needs).

Wonder why they dont get some money by selling some of those trucks to civillian sector.even if they can manage to build them 10% cheaper than the foreign ones there will be demands for them.

there are some reasons in my opinion:

1. our goverment is looking always towards west and would like to import or assemble western cars/trucks rather than supporting national industry.
2. the whole car industry in Iran is corrupt. it is runed by thiefes and corrupt people. and since 40 years no one is doing something against this situation.

i hope with the IRGC now involved in the car industry things will change to the better.
