Iranian FB-44 & its connection with JF-17

Hi,

The thing is that in any functional fighter aircraft design---you can only do so much for the aircraft to look different than the other and still get the peak performance from it.

Secondly----if there is already a good design available---then why not change & modify it to meet your needs and requirements.

Let me give the readers an example of automotive industry in the U S.

The Toyota Tacoma has been the best selling small truck in the U S. Ford tried its best with the ranger and chevy tried its best with the Sonoma / S 10 ----they could never catch up----till some of their marketing personal decided to change the design to look like the Toyota Tacoma----.

Well---rest is history---the sales of the Ford ranger and Chevy took off and they started selling more small trucks.

The thing is why to re-invent the wheel when it already exists----why not to make a better wheel.

Sir your signatures these days are no longer motivating.......:(

I don't much connection but hey why don't you Iranians join our JF 17 development program and co produce.
It'll give an extra boost to the project. Will benefit both nations.
Iran needs to replace its old fleet of F5s.

I don't think the FC-1 was based of the IAR-95. although I will admit that the similarity is uncanny.
FB-44 was most likely a simple design concept that never was considered for production. Iran wants to make more saegheh-2 fighters for domestic works (with a possible purchase of the SU-30 or J-10). i have also heard rumours on facebook about a possible new fighter project to replace the F-4 phantom fleets.
that said this doesn't seem legit to me.
one person i would like to hear about this is @haman10
Projects like M-ATF and Shafagh are still thriving and are not dead .

Iranian lion A.K.A F/B-44 - which are both western designations and speculations about the famous mock-up which is circling around for many years - is supposedly going to be similar in design to a IAR-95S which is a romanian project .

the similarities are undeniable but the fact that these 2 project have really sth in common besides that is doubtable .

The first Choice for Iranian Air force, after the sanctions are lifted, should be to go for a 2 sqd direct purchase + license production of either Su30/35 or Mig35 from Russia immediately.

Second option, if the first one fails, should be to ask China for J10.

The last and least effective option will be to take this FB44 design into production by leveraging Chinese expertise from the FC1 project. Get the RD93 from Russia and Radar + Avionics + armament package from China

I hope Iran doesn't go for the SU-30. Russia has proven an unreliable partner for Iran.
China maybe will sell the J-10 but if so iran should get full domestic production. And to replace the F-5 for light attack aircraft a domestic design.
