Please can you say more about what you're talking about here? i agree with you generally about Sepah/ Iran building influence in Africa- look at S. Africa awarding Iran the construction of multiple oil refineries. Africa is the new place for countries to joust for influence - France is the 1st to lose big, Russia has gained alot from not being a compulsive colonialist, and Iran has been building influence there too.

Africa is the new place for countries to joust for influence - France is the 1st to lose big, Russia has gained alot from not being a compulsive colonialist, and Iran has been building influence there too.

While keeping in mind it's authored by a Saudi "think tank" and should therefore be naturally biased against Iran, the following 154-page report is looking at Iran's relations with Africa country by country, and does contain some raw data:

It also goes to show to what extent Riyadh has been observing Iranian presence in Africa, something they've clearly been wary of. But these efforts can also be seen as part of a common policy shared with western imperialist powers, the Saudis acting as an auxiliary to the latter. Doubtlessly one of the main financiers of anti-Iran propaganda on the African continent has been the Saudi regime, at least to date.

Let's see whether and to what extent they would backtrack on these sorts of activities consecutive to the recent resumption of bilateral ties, and not just in Africa. Another big question to me is if Saudi-funded imams at Saudi-controlled salafist mosques across the planet are going to tone down the Shiaphobic and anti-Iranian rhetoric or not. Time will tell.

Second time I'm hearing this being mentioned in a Persian-language "YouTube" video, but why am I not finding the slightest confirmation in French online media?

Performed several searches using various word combinations on a search engine, as well as a query at the website of the French daily Libération.

The French foreign ministry stating that sardar Qa'ani was present in Mali and that Iran had a role in recent anti-imperialist coups of west Africa isn't reported anywhere in French media (nor by other sources except for a few Iranian social media users).

Now I'm not myself excluding the possibility, nay high probability that Iran has been extending some form of assistance to the movements in question, but this item here appears to be fake news. Unless someone can find a local source reporting it, in which case I'd be grateful if they could share it here. Friends in Iran would gain in verifying such rumors or citing their primary source.
