TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s homegrown missile defense system ‘Bavar-373’ has successfully passed all initial tests, a military commander said.

In an interview with Tasnim on Saturday, Lieutenant Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base General Abolfazl Sepehrirad said the Bavar-373 air defense missile system has gone through all of the initial tests successfully.

He alsosaid that all training courses for operating the Russian-made S-300 system are currently being held inside Iran.

Iran received the S-300 from Russia in July 2016 and installed the missile system a month later.

Under a contract signed in 2007, Russia was required to provide Iran with at least five S-300 defense systems, but after its initial refusal to sell the system, Iranian experts began to manufacture a domestic version, known as Bavar-373.

The Iranian air defense system employs three different types of missiles to hit targets at various altitudes.

Iranian military technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

Those are large missiles. Can any Irani member tell about the range of this system.

.
We seriously need to collaborate with Iran in their Deployable Anti-Air Assets!
I mean atleast like send observers,so that when you do start work on a project you know where to start.

@BHarwana Some useful info :)

A possible imported old useless S-300 PMU-1 or perhaps a mock up. But i personally believe that it is an S-300 PMU-1 imported from third country. A very old version

There is rumors that this system called bavar-373 is using missiles with different ranges. An image leaked on the web proved that there are two missiles shown as sub-systems of bavar : The second (Red colored) missile with estimated length, it must have shorter range compared to main missile of Bavar-373 (The white colored missile)

Canisters and launchers shows that it is a hot-launch system, unlike Russian S-family :

The launcher's estimated length/hight is about 21*26cm=537cm= almost 5.37m
