Senior Shia cleric met with Iran’s new official in Hajj affairs to stress the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and warned Saudi authorities against offending Iranian pilgrims.

Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, Iranian top jurisprudent and professor at Qom Seminary met with Hujjat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ahmad Mousavi, the new Representative of the Supreme Leader in Hajj and Pilgrims Organization and called for improvement in behaving Iranian Hajj pilgrims.

He called for reminding Saudi Hajj Minister that Iranian pilgrims are in fact guests to the country and that they have to be treated the same way pilgrims from other countries are treated.

Religious figure noted that Iranian Hajj pilgrims have nothing to do with political issues saying, “Mistreatment of Iranian pilgrims would be a negative propaganda for Saudi Arabia when pilgrims return with a negative picture on how they were behaved.”

He also noted Saudi Hajj Minister that a respectful treatment of Iranian pilgrims would turn them into friends if Saudi Arabia is interested to have them so.

Top scholar warned those who have written a book and related that to be written by him and referred to the correspondents between Iranian top clerics and Saudi King as a token for friendly relations between Islamic Republic of Iran and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Please... This *ick race between Gulf Arabs and Iran is becoming annoying... Their constant jabbing at eachother like they themselves are angels with no sin...

Maybe Iranian regime should threat their own Sunni citizens like human beings or their Azerbaijan Turks with dignity then should critisize KSA...

Actually not just Shia pilgrims, pilgrims generally from Pakistan are also mistreated as i have heard from various friends, colleagues who have went there to perform the same.
Arabs are generally racist towards fellow Muslims and since its their country, they believe they are sole custodians of the holy places and its their right to treat others the way they like.

.
They are members of the OIC, right? The organisation is supposed to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (Ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests, promote solidarity amongst member states and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.

BUT it's doing otherwise. Few countries within the OIC can see eye to eye, and it's far from promoting solidarity, one of the many examples being Iran and SA. What an eyewash!

As if Pakistani officials are concerned let alone being very concerned about Pakistani pilgrims

Saudi envoy summoned over executed Iranians

Official accuses kingdom of violating human rights and Islamic teachings

Iran has summoned the Saudi charge d’affaires to “strongly protest” the execution of a number of Iranian citizens convicted in the kingdom for drug trafficking, media here reported on Tuesday.

Iran’s foreign ministry director for the Gulf region, Ali Reza Enayati, also protested to Hassan Zayed, the Saudi diplomat, that Riyadh was not permitting consular access to detained Iranians.

Enayati accused the kingdom of violating human rights and Islamic teachings, according to the official IRNA news agency and other news outlets in Iran. He said a complaint will be taken before international bodies.

No details were given as to the identities or number of the Iranians killed in Saudi Arabia. Iranian media did not say when Zayed was summoned. Saudi media made no recent mention at all of any executions of Iranians.

Both Iran and Saudi Arabia have long been criticised by human rights groups for applying the death penalty for a range of crimes including murder, rape and drug trafficking.

Iran, when it arrests foreigners, also does not systematically observe international treaties requiring it to provide them consular access.

On Tuesday, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, warned Riyadh of “political and legal ramifications” over the executions.

Mehmanparast, in his weekly presser, accused the Saudi government of making “contradictory statements” since the Iranians were arrested and tried in the kingdom on drugs charges five years ago.

Tehran in April had said that Riyadh had suspended the death sentences against several Iranian nationals convicted for drug trafficking.

Amnesty International late March said there had been a significant increase in judicial killings in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Iraq in 2011.

It said Iran had executed at least 360 people, three-quarters of them for drugs offences, while Saudi Arabia executed at least 82 in 2011.

Actually Pakistanis are treated like **** too - I remember in Masjid nabwi when there was too much traffic they specifically ordered the groups of people based approximately on race; with Pakistanis at the back and Arabs at the front.
