One more aspect of a missile maneuvering at hypersonic speed that you seem to overlook. The turn radius of the SR-71 Blackbird flying at MACH 3 was 50 miles. Turning the Fattah traveling at hypersonic speeds with thrust vector will be akin to trying to steer the Titanic with a teaspoon. Contrary to the widely held belief the TVC on the Fattah is meant for endgame maneuvering when the vehicle slows down enough to receive mid course updates.
Bad example.
When you are moving thru space and high speed only a very small course correction is needed to move MILES away from a target.
That is why early BM’s were so inaccurate. Because even though they were fast traveling and arrived to their target in 5-10mins, the gyroscope that guided them would over time be less and less accurate causing very tiny deviations in trajectory that would then correspond to 100’s of meters off target. Having a nuke didn’t matter if it was even 2KM off target. But having a conventional did.
Lastly Fattah warehead also has GLNSS upload so theoretically it could hit a moving target <1 min to target because course correction is very tiny to catch a ship that has only moved maybe 1KM-2KM during that time frame. It’s not like a destroyer can move hundreds of miles in 5 mins. But again Fattah would be a waste on a single ship unless it’s an aircraft carrier.
As for interceptor, even the largest interceptor only have enough fuel to make a very small amount of course corrections in a specific engagement altitude. Basic physics tells you an anti BM-interceptor carrying its entire warhead and missile body flying uprwards against gravity cannot make the same turns at high speeds that a small aerodynamic warhead can make MOVING WITH gravity.
The only system that can intercept this on the Israeli side might be the arrow 4 still in development. This already defeats arrow 3. But the thing with exoatmospheric Hypersonics is that they are incredibly hard to detect so even Arrow 4 success rate will be no where close to a Patriot trying to intercept a traditional ballistic path (ie 1960’s scud)
