Iran unveiled '15th khordad' medium range air defense system

. .
Two explanations:

15th Khordad is the name of the original Najm based Sayyad-2 system, completely separate to the Talash based IRIADF systems and with a whole new concept. The concept is unique because it uses no illumination radar and no active radar seeker SAM.
For the presentation the Najm-802 and -802B were just replaced by the Navid to cause confusion.

The other explanation is that the IRIADF was so impressed by the IRGC concept that they ordered their own one from the DIO. That involved the Najm-802B to be replaced by a new, non-IRGC-spec radar, the Navid.

Ok having watched the news now, it is the second option:

The pioneering work of the IRGC-ASF lead to the IRIADF just modified it's Navid radar system to use the IRGC-ASF-spec Sayyad-2 variant. Better said the Navid is already a variant of the Najm family so it always had that option.
So system miniaturization and advanced in software lead to the option of a Sayyad-2 launcher to be connected to the Navid radar to create a independent SAM battery.

This is quite a important capability for Irans asymmetric concept, pioneered by the 3rd Khordad and Tabas.
Now the IRIADF can set up ambush SAM sites for high altitude targets.

Just a fact: At 45km range the PK of the Sayyad-2 will be very high and a single Navid for radar surveillance connected to a Sayyad-2 launcher is almost as potent as a whole SA-2/HQ-2/Sayyad-1 battery was back in the days. Just 4 instead of 6 missiles but 10-15km longer range and much higher PK.

In total very good news: IRIADF is getting lighter and more asymmetric, more spread and harder to degrade.

He actually said this? Wow what and ***, I mean I don't there's been some bad photo shops in the past but the Fateh missiles, Ghadir subs, Khordad SAMs are some photoshops... What an utter disgrace!!
So could you please say;why do you want us to surrender our photoshoped achievments..........let us be happy whit them............

Just to drive the point home about what I've been saying all along......Kushner holds the strings for the entire Iran file....sanctions, coalition, sabre rattling and all......

Btw, here is the article that was written by basically an Israeli paid insider to defame and then reassign an Iranian American working in the State Dept.....these kind of hit pieces are hallmark of the Zionist's control in the USA, the sad part is that no one in in the security apparatus of the USA can do anything about it. Lastly, an Iranian news article was used to solidify their claim.....again, as I said before Iran needs to control these damaging news articles.....They're reading our papers and articles, they're watching our interviews and videos. They're here in these forums asking questions about our weapons and capabilities....no need for paranoia but we need better rules and policies when it comes to military, economic and diplomatic news coverage. I will bet you a 1000 bucks if I wrote an article that Iran is planning to buy sophisticated semi conductors manufacturing equipment from Singapore to make them in Iran, next week there will be 3 state dept clowns and a CIA or Mossad agent on a plane to singapore to investigate.

Interesting footage revealing reasons why Mr. Hook and other analysts are confused about these kinds of show cases:

1- While the missile is fired, the engagement radar (Navid or whatever the name is) is still! So, how can such a radar engage with 6 different targets at a time if on lock mode it should be still? The fire control screen shown in this footage (the left one) clearly shows the system can control only one fire at a time. What it looks to be true technically is that the system can track up to six targets at a time during the search/track mode, but can engage only one during the engagement mode.
2- There is another radar seen on the right hand side of the launcher. That radar (name?) was seen during the most recent IRGC Air-Defence war game too. Interestingly, this radar was also still ! So, which radar was actually controlling the missile during this test? And which radar was on search mode? A third one behind the scene?
3- Unlike what Peed mentioned, not having an early warning radar for an independent air Defence system is not an advantage. The range of early warning radars is always far beyond the range of target acquisition and illuminating radars, and as the name suggests it provides the operator an ‘early warning’ which in fact is nothing but enough time for calculation/preparation and setting up the rest of system.

It rotates in search mode or covers 90° in starring mode for attack. Certainly long range volume search assets within the IADS will provide it with additional information. But it can operate independently if necessary, track 100+ targets and create 6 track grade beams in TWS mode for attacking them.
6 independent targets within a 90° sector is a very good capability in practice.

This makes the SEAD operation extremely easy for the foe, as a few fake targets can put this system in the fixed lock mode (90 degree), and then attack it from the blind spots (270 degree).
