Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister Mohammad Eslami announces plans to unveil the first indigenous submarine within the next few months.

He added that the final stages of the submarine’s design and construction are currently underway and that it will be unveiled by August 2013.

The submarine has been entirely designed and manufactured by Iranian experts according to the country’s needs, he said.

Iran’s Navy previously launched the indigenous Tareq 901 and Ghadir class submarines as part of efforts to upgrade the country’s defense capabilities.

The Ghadir submarine was first unveiled in 2007. The 120-ton vessel has excellent shallow depth performance and can conduct prolonged coastal missions and launch torpedoes.

Eslami also revealed that new indigenous fighters and modern drones would be unveiled in the near future.

Will this be a plastic model too? Like their new jet fighter. lol.

It wasn't a plastic model,it was a mock up,which is a critical stage of design development. I can post mockups of leading western fighters too, it hardly discredits Iranian program. As for the sub, there might be some outside technical help from Iran's friends.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian defense officials announced on Saturday that the country would display its first 500-ton submarine in the next few months.

Deputy Defense Minister for Industrial and Research Affairs Mohammad Eslami said the designing and construction of Iran's new indigenous submarine is in its final phases and the new submarine will be launched by August 22, marking the National Day of the Defense Industry.

"All related works of this new submarine from designing to production of basic materials and equipments have been accomplished by local experts and proportionate to our conditions and needs," Eslami stated.

He added that the subsurface vessel with a weight of 500 tons will be Iran's first semi-heavy submarine and is a final ring in the china of the country's defense needs, given the other submarines, including Qadir-class light submarines and Tareq-class heavy submarines, that Iran already has.

In September 2012, the Iranian Navy officially launched a heavy submarine after the subsurface vessel was overhauled by the country's experts.

Tareq 901 submarine was launched in Iran's Southern port city of Bandar Abbas at the order of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander in Chief Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

In May 2012, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari lauded Iranian experts' success in repairing heavy submarines, saying their outstanding capabilities and mastery of the hi-tech used in naval vessels display the failure of enemy sanctions and pressures.

He said the submarine, called Tareq, is now fully ready to be dispatched to the high seas.

He pointed to the Supreme Leader's recent alarming remarks that enemies are trying to display Iranians as an incapable nation, and said, "Today we show that 'We Can', and that our ability is way beyond the enemy's imaginations."

In 2011, the Iranian Navy's Tareq-class submarine, 'Younus', managed to set a new record in sailing the international waters and high seas for 68 days.

Iran's Younus submarine, sailing alongside warships of the 14th fleet of the Iranian Navy, returned home in early June 2011 following an over two-month-long mission in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The deployment of the Iranian submarine in the Red Sea was the first such operation by the country's Navy in far-off waters.

WE already overhaul our Kilo class subs and made 21 (and counting) 120 ton Ghadir class submarines.

Our shipyards have also produced 3 X 110000 ton container ships and a 120000 Aframax tanker.

This tanker was ordered and made for Venezuela

boring day in kangaroo land? Joining ranks with wahabis now? Stop trolling.

It wasn't presented as a mockup, it was presented as a functioning aircraft that can fly. It was a plastic model with bizarre aerodynamics that would never work and then they proceeded to Photoshop an image of the plastic model flying.

So it's a legitimate question to ask, will this new submarine be a plastic model or will it be real? Will it be demonstrated in real water, or photoshoped into water?

Actually, it wasnt presented as a plane that can fly. It was indeed presented and confirmed as a mock up. Check your sources again. Btw did any official in Iran verify the picture of a flying plane in the mountain, as being a real and legitimate? Any idiot (even Iranian press) can photoshop anything, and western media will pick up on it.
They pulled the same crap about the space launch of the monkey. Iranian press (maybe because of illlustration purposes or perhaps even mistake) published pictures of a different monkey, from previous space launch, which failed. Western press picked up on that as well, for their usual fail propaganda purposes.
But the recent space launch succeeded. They showed with video evidence, and NASA even confirmed it.

Now about to the fighter jet.
There was a video showing an aircraft flying, which was an RC model. And they confirmed it as such. Saying they have smaller scales models for testing purposes.

So again, check your sources. You are being fed wrong information.
But I suspect that you will go back to your scheduled programming. lol

You and the imbecile that thanked you are both grade A geniuses.

All the officials at the meeting clearly stated that it was a scale model.

best of luck. .

Iran will release two new submairines of own production, Deputy of Iran's Army commander on research issues Farkhad Amiri said, Fars reported.

Amiri noted that the "Fateh" submarine will be put into operation in the beginning of new Iranian Year (starts on March 21). He also added that its planned to install 12 Sonar on the Fateh submarine.

Sonar is a technique that uses sound propagation (usually underwater, as in submarine navigation) to navigate, communicate with or detect other vessels. Two types of technology share the name "sonar": passive sonar is essentially listening for the sound made by vessels; active sonar is emitting pulses of sounds and listening for echoes.

"Its planned to have both passive and active sonar on Fateh submarine," Amiri noted. "Sonar will help the submarine to detect and take active measures against enemy divers and other threats."

Amiri added that after the Fateh submarine is released, Iran plans to start making a 1,200 ton Besat submarine.

He said that the new Besat submarine will be made using new technology.

Sonar may be used as a means of acoustic location and of measurement of the echo characteristics of "targets" in the water. Acoustic location in air was used before the introduction of radar. Sonar may also be used in air for robot navigation, and SODAR (an upward looking in-air sonar) is used for atmospheric investigations.

Iran will equip four submarines (Fateh, Gadir, Tariq and a 1,200 ton Besat submarine) with underwater to surface missile launching systems for land targeting, Amiri said.

Amiri added that another addition that Iranian own made submarines will have fuel-cells.

Fuel-cells are electro-chemical energy converters. The advantage of a fuel-cell system aboard submarines is their air independent operation. They use an energy carrier (e.g. hydrogen or methanol) and an oxidation agent (liquid oxygen/ LOx), all of which are stored on board.

In the fuel cells hydrogen and oxygen are combined to water, thus giving off electricity (DC). Thanks to a very high efficiency, the amount of waste heat is very low. The electric energy produced is then fed to the submarine's main switchboard.

The amount of stored reactants combined with the excellent efficiency of the energy converting fuel cells provide the submarine with a zero-emission, pollution free alternative power source.
