Iran to supply Russia with “hundreds” of Drones

.
The reason is simple. Russians believed in their manned airpower (3rd largest fleet in the world) like today Iran is believing in its unmanned airpower (Worlds 3rd largest fleet of Armed UCAVS). They neglected their unmanned domain like we are cutting IRIAF budgets because we see it as an interceptor force. Why are we not seeing 200 Kowsar-I already, why just 18-24? If we can turn an enemy into a toast with Fakour-90 LRBVR at 150 Km why is not Fatter being turned into a BVR-IR package for Kowsar-I? Why have not they unvieled Kowsar-II yet. I mean the ingredients are there already. We are making the full airframe, FBW, Nav-comm, e-warfare, J-85-II, Grifo-346, AIM-9P, AIM-54 all at home so how difficult it would be to convert this into a 2xFJ-44, Grifo-E, AIM-9X blkIII, PL-15/R-77M for the nation that ranks 9th in the STEM R&D by SJR ? Countries forget the balance and then pay the price in wars. I am glad they did not neglect the air defense. So at Atleast a force of 200 4th generation interceptors will have to do 25 % of the job while 75 % can be taken by the multi-layered Ambush SAMS.

Mig and sukhoi are 2 huge and prestigous companies in Russia that i think had something to do with it. They are not going to throw away a century of tradition overnight. They make good money on it, and it gives them diplomatic leverage on countries they export to (like India)

I personally think thats the biggest thing thats held Russian UAV production back. They are almost in denial about the importance of UAVs. Though this contract, and the news that sukhoi and mig are going to be merging might be an indication that they are finally waking up and smelling the coffee

Jealous Trolls have started misinformation about Turkish UCAVs
not İran but Turkiye sells UCAVs to dozens of Countries like hot cake

Are you talking about yourself? nobody in Iran gives a shit about your banana republic with 100% inflation rate that can be torn apart by western sanctions in a week. You are a banana republic... also you are the one on an Iranian subforum, with immense butthurt that any neutral can see, trying to desperate prove that turkish drones are better then Iranian ones in a thread that has 0 to do with turkish drones.

hopefully one day you can get over you inferiority complex on Iran. Because you will never be in the same league as Iran, dream as you might.

Khan was leaked because of Libya giving up and Iran-Khan relationship was leaked because Qaddafi leaked it.

Iran modified the centrifuges to 50-300 SWU carbon fiber units later, which almost equals European standards :)

He was da man. Thanks!
Also due to Iranians because when IAEA went to inspect Iranian nuclear installations, they found P-1 type centrifuges which was the same type AQ Khan had obtained from the Dutch.
Also they were already European standard because he got those designs from the Dutch.
I said Iran didn’t modify them much because when Israelis and Americans did Stuxnet cyber attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, it was said it was possible because Iranian and Israeli centrifuges were the same design since AQ Khan and before him an Israeli had stole the same centrifuge designs from the same Dutch company using similar tactics and AQ Khan had sold those designs and parts to Iran so all 3 have same centrifuges designs but Pakistan modified and modernized them heavily over the years easily as advanced or more advanced then western standards because now Pakistan is making plutonium based nukes and is able to miniaturized them a lot more then many countries.

Iranian drones don't have SATCOM, they are unfit for long range recon, they're limited to LOS or have preprogrammed flights.
well , you think how much that line of sight increase when we use another drone for relaying data . we have that capability.

by the way second generation Sahahed 129 and shahed 149 have satcom

The west knew everything before IAEA visit. Iran did not give up anything related to Khan.
P1 was the same correct but they already knew it.

They got info from Qaddafi.

Iranian drones could boost Russian battlefield capabilities in Ukraine, analysts say

Iranian drones could provide Russia with a capability it underfunded for years and support its army’s artillery strikes against Ukraine if used effectively, analysts said Tuesday.

Declassified intelligence says Iran is preparing to train Russian forces on drone warfare and provide them with “several hundred” unmanned aerial vehicles for use in Ukraine, national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters Monday.

The announcement comes before a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tehran next week, which Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced Tuesday.

Iran’s drones are among the most advanced in the world after decades of development and experience in proxy wars in the Middle East, experts and U.S. military officials have said.

“It is one of a handful of nations that has a massive, robust drone development and fielding capability that has been proven in combat on a large scale,” said Jeremy Binnie, an analyst at the defense intelligence firm Janes.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry dismissed Sullivan’s statements, saying Iran and Russia have collaborated on technologies since before the war, according to a report Tuesday by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

A spokesman for the National Security Council did not provide further details after a request for comment.

If there is Iranian involvement over the skies of Ukraine, evidence will appear as drones are shot down, experts said.

Iran would most likely not send its larger drones, as it lacks the capacity to deliver several hundred overseas on the “expedited timeline” that Sullivan described, Binnie said.

But Iran could send smaller drones that would serve either to scout locations for artillery barrages or act as relatively inexpensive guided missiles, he and other analysts said.

Smaller suicide drones like those provided by Iran to its proxy groups in Yemen, Iraq and Syria made an outsized impact in those conflicts, said Samuel Bendett at the Washington, D.C.-based think tank CNA.

Iran has invested in drone capabilities for decades, while Russia has been slow to develop them, Bendett said.

“Russia was simply late to the game,” Bendett said. “Because it had different priorities after the Cold War, it didn’t think that drones would play an important part in modern warfare.”

Iran’s drone capabilities in the Middle East have developed to the point where the U.S. is “operating without complete air superiority” for the first time since the Korean War, former U.S. Central Command chief Kenneth McKenzie told Congress this spring.

Iran’s drone improvements happened despite sanctions from the U.S. government. The Russians, who are facing heavy sanctions of their own, could learn from how Iran manufactured and sourced its drones, Bendett said.

Russia would not be the first customer for Iran’s drone expertise, said Aaron Stein, the research director at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, based in Philadelphia.

Iran is developing a niche export market and has sent drones to Ethiopia and Tajikistan, Stein said.

The skies of Ukraine could become active with Iranian drones fielded by Russian troops against Ukrainians trained by the U.S. and armed with Turkish and American drones of their own.

Both sides will be monitoring how their opponents counter their drones, via jamming or specific anti-drone weaponry, and the lessons could have ramifications on future wars around the world, said Farzin Nadimi, an associate fellow at the Washington Institute.

“This will give an opportunity for both sides to learn from an actual drone war over a third country,” Nadimi said. “Ukraine will be the next laboratory.”

It might increase it substantially, but it depends on many factors.

Iran only has 2 satellites, an old one from 2005 and a newer one from 2022. There's no way the one from 2005 can support drone SATCOM, it wasn't designed for that. That leaves just one Iranian satellite that might be able to do that.

SATCOM is only possible when there's a satellite above. Iran's limited amount of satellites doesn't allow efficient SATCOM capability, only for a short duration of time, not constant.

Also, I don't know the orbit of that satellite, does it even orbit above Ukraine?

have you considered , maybe just maybe a friendly nation allowed Iran to use its satellite and that nation satellites cover all Europe .

but as you said the first solution increase the range substantially . and as we don't have enough satellite for coverage , we may invested heavily on that solution. just like our drones that because we have limited opportunity on manned aircraft , we have invested far more on drones

let put a hypothetical question Russia is a lot more advance than Iran in various military field but if they tell you have only two option Iranian drones or Russian ones and your life depend on their performance , which one you choose ?

.
if Iran helps Russian now the favour wont be forgotten

Russian never forget either good or bad deeds

take advantage Iran in return you might even get the S500 SAM and life long Allie

Fair enough. I don't know how technologically viable it is to share satellites for such a use though. The SATCOM would have to be purpose built for the satellites it needs to communicate to.

Russian drone technology appears to be abysmal, I'd get the Iranian ones instead.

No one is ever going to buy Russian air defenses again lol

Please do not show this article to the Turkies..... they may go super jeloues, and start posting more crap.

I think this is fake news Russia would never consider iranian garbage drones but if am wrong then its a huge victory for iranian defence industry if a country like russia which is one of largest weapons exporter in the world uses their drones thats nothing else but a great achievement.

another question comes to mind why dont russians order chinese drones. chinese have all sorts of drones this news seems fake.

You are underestimating and doing a great disservice by saying that Iranian drones are rubbish. The Iranians have learnt a great deal when they got their hands on the US drone.

.
Lol, in reality Russia can't do shit against HIMARS. Can't intercept it, can't detect it. Russian jets don't even have air supremacy over Ukraine and Russian/Iranian drones don't have the datalink range to get to the HIMARS

LOL They are easily intercepted by Pantsirs. Jamming the GPS in area makes it blind. No wonder Ukrops need to launch simultaneously against same target dozen of Tochka-Us + 15-20 Uragan missiles +20 Himars to hit something.

You are confusing best in the world Russian air defense with Israeli junk again, looney.

Yeah lol, Pantsir helps so much lmao.

Pantsir is a joke, can't do shit, blown up by Israel, Turkey, Azerbaijan and now Ukraine shows how bad they are as well.

Who cares dude? Your country Israel won't even take a side and is neutral. Here you are jumping like a monkey right and left.
