So that means your doctrine of military planning is somewhat similar to the Chinese eh? They too rely on developing more modern and more number of missiles as the answer to anything that they deem would be too expensive to build up. For example, instead of going for a dozen super carriers that require a killer amount of money, they are going for the much cheaper counter-attack in the form of carrier-killer missiles. Although without a complex satellite and military network system fully operational, it would be difficult to predict the accuracy of the landing of these missiles. But that's a different topic as our Chinese friends are discussing on another thread.

Missile modernization is much cheaper compared to getting fancy and expensive gadget measures. However, when considering a larger threat that has both massive assets and massive missiles, it is important to keep a conventional advantage as well such as pre-emption of military striking. That way, even larger threats are caught off-guard and possibly driven away. However, I think your missiles are already covering the entire region meaning that now you are practically much safer than what your current regime predicts that you are.

A half arsed airforce wouldn't be any good against the US. They won't get off the ground and even if they do, they won't do any damage. Why waste good money? Our current jets are good enough to bomb PKK terrorists in Iraq. To hold back the regional countries we have advantage in other areas.

Iran's airforce is weaker when you look at the birds individually, yes. But give them a defensive role and they can fight any airforce in the region. The combination of ground radars, anti-air and the airforce can rape anything you or any arab country can throw at Iran. On the other hand iran can't send in the airforce to any country b/c the planes won't last long.

As I said, a real deterrent wouldn't be a UAE like airforce. That's not gonna scare the Americans any time soon. A real deterrent is a nuke, a ballistic missile force that will make your balls shiver and an increasingly more capable navy that can actually do some damage.

Each country in the middle east has pretty much a superb defence force that no other nearby country can win against even Israel was stopped dead on its tracks by hizboullah which is not even a ligit army.

But ofcoursecountries like Iraq and Libya do not have a good defence due to the sanctions the us had to wait for Iraq to reach its lowest point to attack Libya it waited for the country to split into two to move in and that is the US.

I think you got a valid point there Abii. Say what you will about the US, but their air force is truly amazing. I doubt there is any air force that can go toe to toe with USAF. Our best hopes lie in playing defensive and improving our SAM and radar capabilities. Designing fancy birds takes time - hell Lotta time - and money. And no matter what we design, we won't have enough numbers and trained pilots with experience to stand up to modern American jets.

I say nukes with good delivery systems and we've got a game in our hands.

This is where you are wrong friend. Not every country can spend 1 trillion to develop a strong air force and the US maybe the only country capable of such a thing (not anymore now however) and maybe China. It has always been known that it is not the army with the most soldiers that matters. It is the army with the most cash.
