TEHRAN: The world's tallest concrete dam will be built in the western province of Iran, Lorestan, Iran's IRNA reported.
Managerial board head and Water Resources and Power Development Company managing director, Mohammad-Reza Rezazadeh said on Tuesday construction works of the 325 metre high dam will start in a ceremony on Wednesday.

He said that the dam is designed to build hydroelectric power plant to generate 1,500 megawatt electricity, adding that the advanced stage of the plant will augment the capacity to 3,000 gigawatt/h of power annually.

Construction of the dam is also aimed at controlling five billion cubic metres of water flow at Dez and Bakhtiari rivers.-BERNAMA

No, they are building the dam just for fun, there is no water in the whole process.

Just kidding. yes it is being built on Bakhtiari river (also the name of the dam), and it's going to control 5 billion cubic meters flow of water per year.It's a large river and it has a lot of water flowing.

There are good water resource and also good mountains in the west and southwest of Iran to build dam. When I was in my first job in a consulting engineering company we started to build this dam. Except that this we have many other large dams especially in Khuzestan. Karon, Dez, Abbaspoor, Masjed soleyman, Gotvand and many other dams in Khuzestan produce a lot of energy specially in the peak of load and supply water for agriculture consumptions.

It's tallest dam not biggest one . There is some difference . Even in iran we have dams with bigger water reserve

It's not biggest dam,read the title again.It's the tallest dam.It has nothing to do with being built on the largest river or not.

honestly I can't understand why Pakistan can't build that Dam it's specification is to some extent like Karkheh Dam which we started in 1992 and finished in 2001 .
I , wondering if some politicians are planning to bag a lot of money over the production and contracts for Kala Bagh Dam .
